According to Elon Musk, AI is poised to advance at an incredible pace, potentially making traditional work entirely optional. Humans may not need to work, instead relying on a universal basic income and enjoying ample leisure time. Musk notes, “You can have a job if you want one for personal satisfaction, but AI will do everything.” AI could assume all productive labor responsibilities, spanning engineering, medicine, coding, research, and content creation. This could lead to a society where abundance is the norm, eliminating the need for employment. Nevertheless, the implementation of this “leisure economy” hinges on governments redistributing the wealth generated by AI. Musk implies this is inevitable, although it may spark significant economic and political debates. Is an AI-driven economy of abundance the next step for society, or a challenge that could redefine capitalism as we know it?
