Most people don't think twice before setting fire on their plastic and textile wastes as they think that is the fastest way to get rid of it, some send it to the landfill without giving the waste a second chance to live but what they don't know is that such act pollute the environment.

Do you know that, about 90million tons of textile wastes are generarted annually all around the globe? and it takes over 200 years for textile wastes to degrade, plastic wastes on the other hand takes 20-300 years to degrade into micro plastic.

Microplastics are tiny plastic particles that are less than 5 millimeters in size. They have become a significant environmental concern due to their widespread presence in oceans, rivers, soil and even the air we breathe.

✓The implications of the above is that, micro plastic has become a threat to aquatic organisms as toxicity or physical injury might occur from ingesting it. No wonder our once beautiful rivers are becoming eutrophicated.

✓Affects ecosystem and biodiversity.

✓Affects human health through the food chain.

But, we can do better by adopting these measures to help prevent or control these effects that are ravaging our society 👇👇

✓Reduce plastic use by minimizing single-use plastics and opt for reusable alternatives.

✓Implement effective waste management systems through recycling and up cycling to prevent plastic waste from entering the environment.

✓Improve wastewater treatment facilities to filter out microplastics.

✓ Advocate for policies and initiatives that aim to reduce plastic waste and microplastic pollution.

Meet Juliet Matthew the visioneer of Ask the Waste Doctors, I'm an Environmental Health Scientist by profession, a Lecturer and an Entrepreneur.

For me, I believe that Environmental Health goes beyond just roaming about the street and prosecuting environmental polluters.

It should be about teaching individuals in the community to see reasons why they should keep their environment tidy, when people are convinced, they will take responsibility without being chased or coarse to do so and that was what brought about this vision.

Here in this community of Ask the Waste Doctors, we offer the following 6Rs approach to waste management in order to keep the planet earth clean:

✓Consultation to individuals, business owners, manufacturers and the government on the need to, REFUSE/REJECT the urge to accept more wastes in the form of packaging.
RETHINK the consequences of a process before designing that product for public consumption.
REDUCE waste generated through REUSE, RECYCLING AND RECOVERY.
There's no restriction to what we do with waste.

Our mission is to "Enhance the life span of waste and in the process prevent new raw materials from being extracted".

Our Vision is to bring out the beauty in wastes by transforming them into an environmental friendly products.

We deal with plastic wastes, textile wastes, bodily wastes(human excrement), aluminum wastes, etc.

We are excited to have you begin this journey with us and I believe that together we will mitigate climate change.
Thank you for reading, I love you.

Do you know that when you prolong the lifecycle of waste through recycling and engaged in using same, you are indirectly prolonging the lifespan of man, animals and properties?

Now you know. Get a recycled products instead of a new one and save the planet.

Before I used to hear that what goes around comes around but with the fuel price now, what goes around may not have transport fare to come around.
