On Friday, 16th of February, 2024, I honoured the Advocates’ Association, SAA-LASU invitation to the Advocacy Conference 2024 and the Premier edition of the Induction Ceremony to the LASUSU Bar.

After the induction and ‘Call to the Bar’ ceremonies, I was invited to charge the new ‘students’ union lawyers’ on their responsibilities as ‘Legal Practitioners’ reflecting my experience as a young lawyer.

In my pep talk titled ‘Now that you have been called to the Bar’, I remember with nostalgia some events during my studentship at Okunuga Hall and Moot Court, that culminated in my virile moot, mock and litigation experience before the Lagos State University Students’ Union Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal that led to the conferment with the rank of ‘Senior Advocate of LASU’ in 2013.

I encouraged the students’ advocates citing the all-time quote of Sir Christopher Sapara Williams, on the role of the lawyer to the nation, when he said: “the legal practitioner lives for the direction of his people and the advancement of the cause of his country”. I urged them to see the campus as the county and always aspire to give it a direction even when it requires them to render pro bono legal services.

The event's highlight was Abiodun Fatai; the Acting Dean of Students’ Affairs LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY (LASU) comments on my leadership of the Students' Union 10 years ago that once again starred in a teary moment.

It was a pleasure to have shared the podium with eminent lawyers Leresimi Philips Adeleye and Ugochukwu Obed Okocha. I also had the privilege of decorating five (5) Senior Counsels who have distinguished themselves by participating in moot, mock and international competitions.
