Overdoing your skin care routine could also make your face produce excess oil.

If you wash your face too often you might end up stripping away too much oil from your face inducing your sebaceous glands to go into emergency mode, where they produce even more oil to make up for the loss.

Wash your face twice a day to manage the oil on your face.

Wearing sunscreen can also help in preventing your skin from drying out, leading to more unwanted oil production. It's essential you wear sunscreen every day!

One factor that can leave you with more oil than you desire on your face is your skin care routine. But this is controllable.

The products you use on your face might well be a source of oil production imbalance. So it's very important you know your skin type - oily, dry or combination- so you know the right products that will suit you.

If you have oily skin and you use heavy oil based creams on your skin, you might be well inviting extra oil production that will surely lead to a breakout on your skin. Using the correct skin care products can make a huge difference in the oil left on your face at the end of the day.

When it comes to makeup, it's also essential you stock your makeup arsenal with noncomedogenic (non pore clogging) products and please remove your makeup at the end of each day.

A matte moisturizer or foundation would also be in order to soak up excess oil.

If you notice your face gives off some shine it is not so much of a bad thing. Fact is the human skin is by default endowed with oil or sebum. This oil keeps your skin plumped and healthy.
But then what factors may cause your oil glands to go into overdrive?
These factors can be classified as factors you have control over and those you have no control over.
Let's start with the ones we can control.

My Acne Story....contd.

So popping the question like a pimple, is acne the same as pimples? The answer to that question involves both a 'yes' as well as a 'no'.

'Yes' in the sense that a pimple is a type of acne. And 'No' because there are other types of acne like whiteheads, blackheads, nodules and cysts.

So in summary, acne is a type of skin disorder and pimples are one of its' symptoms.

Then we have 'bacne'.
Although the face is a common site for acne development it sometimes occurs on the back, giving rise to what is known as "back acne" or "bacne".

As the name implies it develops when the pores on the back skin get clogged by excess oil and dead skin cells giving rise to the growth of bacteria. It is treated the same way as face acne..

If you have bacne, you want to avoid wearing tight clothes and carrying heavy backpacks because these will most likely irritate your skin and worsen your back acne.

But what factors may cause excessive oil production which facilitates the development of acne?
To be contd.

P.S.Picture credits not ours.

My Acne Story....
From my last post...we continue...
Acne pronounced "ak-nee" is a common skin disorder and a source of concern among young people and even some adults.

And it would occur if:
1. Too much oil is produced by the follicles.
2. Dead skin cells accumulate in the pores
3. Dirt or bacteria collects in the pores.

So in summary, acne occurs when the pores of your skin become blocked with oil, dead skin cells, or bacteria. At this point you maybe wondering is an acne the same as a pimple? Next post pls.

My Acne Story...

What causes acne? I've always been interested in this question seeing how most teenagers and even some adults dread the occurrence of acne spots on their faces.
So I did some research and discovered that.....the human skin has tiny holes called pores. Each pore in our skin is the opening to a follicle. The follicle is made up of a hair and an oil gland.

The oil gland like the name implies, produces oil also known as sebum, which travels up the hair, out of the pore, and onto the skin. This sebum keeps the skin lubricated and soft.

If there is any alteration to this process then acne is sure to occur.

To be cont.
