THE CLEAN UP PROJECT.
On D-day, we got to the site as early as 7am. Honestly some of our team members (myself included) weren’t fully prepared for the level of garbage that met us. Prior to the D-day, some of us hadn’t actually seen the full extent of the project site and we had underestimated the time and resources it would take to clean up. The sweltering heat of about 101 degrees wasn’t helping matters either. However we were determined to get the job done.

…and so we begun.

As we got into our team spirit, the work became easier and manageable. We worked the entire day (about 10hours including breaks). Throughout the course the day, we has numerous people stop to take our pics, some simply stop to observe and others asked questions.

At the end we were happy we were able to complete the task in one day.

FACT SHEET:
- Team members: 8 women
- Prep time: 3 weeks for permits + logistics
- We filled over 32 Hefty Load and Carry Contractor bags, approx 60Ibs each
- Over 1920Ibs of trash
- We worked for about 8 hours

�TAKE AWAYS:
We have no regrets participating in the Freelancer completion. I speak for all team members when I say we are indeed much fulfilled that we’ve contributed a combined effort into keeping our surroundings. We hope we’ve impacted several others into action of saving our planet.

Our project location is situated in the heart of one of the busiest railway and motorway in Lagos, known as Agege Motorway. Our specific cleanup section was this large area that stood between the highway, the railway tracks, and the secondary roads which led to the residential parts of town.

This location was of particular interest because of its high visibility and foot traffic. Basically, if you drove from the expressway, one would notice this potion of land en masse. Likewise, most pedestrians found it convenient to walk through this area to get unto the pedestrian overhead bridge. Unfortunately, the area had become a point for dumping refuse.

The creative world was in a bit of a frenzy after Adobe experimented with doubling the price of its basic ‘Photography’ plan. This prompted many to look elsewhere, with one artist even kindly compiling a list of lower-cost alternatives for like-minded professionals.

As reported by , the tech giant took down its basic US$9.99 ‘Photography’ package—containing 20GB of cloud storage, Photoshop CC, and Lightroom CC, Lightroom Classic CC—from its website last week. The minimal price to pay for the bundle was marked up to US$19.99, twice the original sum.

Perhaps due to the outcry, the price has thankfully been reverted—for now. (Haaaah...big sigh of relief for us Adobe purists), but some believe the price will inevitably increase sooner than later.

Hmmm, now you know I hail Adobe, HOWEVER...I’m really gonna start to explore what’s out there...I said it🙈.

....2019 cleanup loading. So this was from last year when our team braced the streets of Omole, Lagos Nigeria. This year, we’ll be cleaning up the mess along the rail platform in Agege, Lagos. This is gonna fun (fingers crossed) and we will be working an ladies team. Wish us luck!
