Back to business = back to skills too 💪

# # # *7 Important Areas You Must Master When Driving*

*1. Mirrors - “3 seconds rule”*
Check rear mirror every 3-5 seconds. Side mirrors before lane change. FRSC calls it “360 awareness”. Most accidents happen because people no check mirror.

*2. Blind Spots*
That area mirror no dey show. Before changing lane, turn your head small to check.

*3. Following Distance - “2-second rule”*
Keep 2 seconds gap from car in front. If rain/fog, make it 4 seconds. Formula: When car in front pass a pole, count “one-one-thousand, two-one-thousand”. If you pass before “two”, you’re too close.

*4. Speed + Road Signs*
50km/h in town, 80km/h on highway. Always obey yellow signs = warning, red = prohibition.

*5. Braking*
Don’t brake late. “Cover braking”: Put foot near brake when you see crowd, pothole, children.

*6. Junctions/Roundabouts*
Rule: Car already inside roundabout has right of way. At T-junction, car on main road has right of way. Stop, look left-right-left.

*7. Vehicle Controls*
Know your dashboard lights: Engine light, Oil light, Battery light. If any light up, stop and check.

# # # *Steering Tips - “Drive Like a Pro”*

*1. Hand position: 9-3 or 10-2*
Hold steering like clock: left hand 9, right hand 3. Don’t cross hands. When turning, use “push-pull” method: push up with one hand, pull down with other. Smooth, not jerky.

*2. Don’t grip too tight*
Hold steering relaxed. White knuckles = tired arms fast. Only grip tight during emergency.

*3. Look where you want to go*
Car goes where your eyes go. If you stare at gutter, you’ll enter gutter. Look far ahead on the road, not just bonnet.

*4. Small corrections*
Steering no be fight. Small turns = smooth driving. Jerky steering = passenger go vomit + tire wear fast.

*5. U-Turn/3-point turn*
Rule: Full lock steering, move slow, check all mirrors + blind spot.

*6. Parking*
Reverse parking is king for DVNG Practice: Align mirror with car beside you, full

Let's break it down into two parts:

*Reversing out of a g*te or driveway:*
1. *Check your surroundings*: Look around for pedestrians, other cars, or obstacles.
2. *Position your vehicle*: Align your car properly, with enough space to reverse out.
3. *Shift to reverse*: Gently shift into reverse gear.
4. *Look over your shoulder*: Check blind spots and look back to guide you.
5. *Reverse slowly*: Use gentle pressure on the accelerator, checking mirrors and looking back regularly.
6. *Turn wheels as needed*: Steer in the direction you want the rear of the car to go.

*Coming in straight:*
1. *Align your vehicle*: Position your car straight with the g*te or driveway entrance.
2. *Check your mirrors*: Align your mirrors with the edges of the g*te or driveway.
3. *Slow down*: Approach slowly, using gentle brakes.
4. *Steer straight*: Keep the car centered, making small adjustments as needed.
5. *Look ahead*: Focus on the path ahead, using peripheral vision to stay straight.

Some tips:
- Practice makes perfect – try in an empty space if you're unsure.
- Use spotters if possible, especially in tight spaces.
- Take your time and go slow.
