The Covid 19 was actually a game changer for us as a nation. The pandemic came and met us completely unprepared, a continent of over a billion people, but we had to wait.

We were at the end of the queue when it came to access to vaccine.
Led by African Union and African CDC, we have made a commitment that what happened during Covid 19 must not happen again for us as a continent and in Nigeria, for us as a nation.
And so there is this commitment that by 2040 we should be able to manufacture locally at least 60% of the vaccines, drugs, diagnostics and consumables that we use in Africa.

It's time for the Q2 CVRB National Webinar

You should attend!

mRNA vaccines have reshaped how the world responds to outbreaks. They are faster to develop, easier to adapt, and critical in the face of emerging diseases. But what would it take for Africa, and Nigeria in particular, to produce them locally?

Join us for a focused national conversation on mRNA vaccine production, workforce development, and the systems required to move from dependence to local capacity.

🗓 Wednesday, 13 May 2026
⏰ 10:00 AM – 12:15 PM (WAT)
📍 Virtual (Zoom)

Hosted by the Centre for Vaccine Research & Biotechnology (CVRB), Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia, this session will explore practical pathways for local mRNA production, examine workforce and training needs from bench to bedside, and position Nigeria within emerging African mRNA and technology transfer networks.

Register and be part of the conversation on building local vaccine capacity:
