As an effective leader, follower, employer or employee, parent or child, empathy is a key trait you must endeavor to inculcate. It is an important trait of an emotionally intelligent person.

It is important to put yourself in people’s shoes and ensure to understand their perspective this will make your relationships better as you would be able to respond appropriately.

Empathy however cannot be taught, you need to first of self-aware before you can even cognitively understand what someone else is feeling.

Interestingly, sometimes we need to be able to switch off our empathetic feelings to protect our own lives, and those of others.

In closing, be empathetic today, act maturely and professionally and be the best version of yourself.
