. " Mummy see my stomach. My stomach is big like Aunty Mirable's own. Am I pregnant? " Annabelle asked inquisitively as she looked at her stomach and rubbed it gently.
" It's because you ate a lot and drank so much water. What is inside your stomach is food while a baby is inside the stomach of Aunty Mirable's stomach. " Lucy said and touched her daughter on her nose.
" Mummy, can I carry a baby too? " Annabelle asked again.
" Yes you can, but you need to become an adult like I and aunt Mirable before you can carry a baby " Lucy responded again with a smile.
" But mummy, why are you not carrying a baby inside your stomach? " Annabelle asked again.
" Please Anna go into your room and rest I'm not ready for your question and answer section " Lucy responded this time already tired.
" Mummy, you promised to give me a sibling. All my classmates have brothers and sisters. Why don't I have any? " Annabelle asked again this time looking sad.
" Come here..." Lucy said and opened her arms for Annabelle who walked in slowly.
" Anna, mummy will give you a sibling soon. I want to be careful. But I promise you that you will surely get that sibling you've been desiring okay? " Lucy said to Annabelle who nodded her head then smiled.
" Okay, go to your room and do your assignment " Lucy said with a smile and Annabelle ran off.
After she left, Lucy heaved a heavy sigh of relief. She stood up and was about to enter her room when her phone started ringing. She looked at who was calling her and it was Steve. She picked up the call with a smile then walked into her room.
Annabelle is a product of a denied pregnancy. Lucy was in her final level in the university when she met a man called Kelvin. Kelvin presented himself to Lucy as a young man who was doing well in his affairs. He always spent on Lucy and provided some of her basic needs in school. Lucy fell in love with Kelvin who was a handsome young man. He looked promising and Lucy was ready to spend the rest of her life with him.
He promised Lucy heaven on earth but everything changed with one particular news. Lucy had called Kelvin to surprise him with the news of her pregnancy. She couldn't wait for Kelvin to come see her parents so they could get married. But everything changed when Kelvin told Lucy that he wasn't ready. He told Lucy to términatè the pregnancy. Lucy insisted that she wasn't going to harm the baby. Kelvin warned Lucy not to contact him if she decided to keep the baby.
Just like a joke , Kelvin never called her again. One particular day, Lucy called him and the first question he asked her was if she had tèrminatêd the pregnancy. Lucy was heartbroken and never called Kelvin and he never called back.
It was so painful and a tedious journey carrying the pregnancy and struggling with her final year in the university. When others would laugh , Lucy will cry within her.
When Lucy's parents learnt of her pregnancy, the were disappointed also hearing that The man who had impregnated her wanted the baby tèrminatêd. But one thing Lucy's parents didn't do was to chase their daughter away. Lucy's mother understood her daughter and stood by her with some words of encouragement.
After Annabelle was born, Lucy decided she was going to leave the city to start a new life elsewhere. Although Lucy's parents weren't in support. They had to allow their daughter make her own decisions.
Even though Lucy's parents supported her financially it wasn't easy for her. But one thing about her was that she never gave up. Lucy would keep searching for jobs with her certificate. On one faithful day, the universe smiled on her. Lucy walked into a company when they were in dire need of someone with her qualifications.
They assessed her and she was the perfect fit for the job they had. Lucy was asked to resume work as soon as she could. Lucy would back Annabelle and take her with her to her work place. The manager was understanding and didn't let the presence of Annabelle to be an obstruction. Lucy also knew what was expected of her.
It's been close to seven years since Kelvin left Lucy. Lucy had climbed up the ladder in the company and reached the role of an assistant manager. She earned well and lived comfortably. She had a car and was no longer enticed by men who kept throwing themselves on her.
But then the persistent demand of a sibling from Annabelle made her decide to give love a chance.
