Consistency is a key to success. Being a part of a team and playing a good role is important. But, maintains it to the end is even more important. In the words of a revered Nigerian, Mrs. Ibukun Awosika, β€œyou should know when to quit.” Not quitting impact-making but from a job and environment that limits performance and development.

Bank Transfers!
It is very encouraging today to see that people have gotten used to accepting bank transfers in many African countries. A while ago in Nigeria, It was difficult especially during the last general elections. Many would never accept bank transfers. But, things seem to have taken a new turn since after that. It is very encouraging to see that even the regular β€œAboki” selling pepper and onions on their wheelbarrows, shoe cobblers, and many others are now in tune with reality and accepting transfers. This is what adapting to change means.

The world is moving unquestionably and you could either hop in or get left behind. Our education system should be able to forecast and align our students to change, and not just adaptation, but be drivers as well. Have you registered for AELC 2026? It is so unfortunate that some candidates with the marital status "married" make this mistake during interviews.

When you are asked, tell me about yourself. Please do not tell the recruiter you are married.

Let's me explain before you panic πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

When you are asked tell me about yourself. It is a platform to showcase your qualifications, skills, and experience, not explaining your personal life.

Some people go as far as saying, " i am the first born of the family and bread winner πŸ˜† "

Other will say, "I am married with 4 kids, unfortunately 1 died, so I am left with 3 kids." You want to turn the interview session to nollywood Epic show πŸ™†πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

Some people go as far as explaining their family problems, habaa πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

This is your private life. πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

Based on the atmosphere of the interview, the interviewer can decide to ask "what is your marital status" your answer should be simple and straightforward "yes" Unless you are asked how many kids, you can mention.

The interview panel is not a storytelling session. It is an avenue to showcase why you are the right pick for the job.

I rest my case.
