An Open Letter to Mr. Peter Obi: From a Priest Rev fr Prince Chidi Philip
Dear Mr. Peter Obi,
Greetings in the name of justice and truth.
As a priest and, more importantly, as a fellow Nigerian, I feel moved and divinely compelled by your encouragement in these interesting times when speaking common sense in Nigeria feels like preaching fasting to gluttons.
First of all, Sir, I want to say: we see you. We hear you. We love you. And no matter how many "blackmail-influencers" they throw at you, we your people — the ones not paid to think upside down — will always know the truth.
Your recent post about the blackmail storm surrounding your spiritual pilgrimage to Rome made me chuckle — not because the situation is funny, but because I imagined how a peaceful visit to St. Peter’s Basilica somehow turned into a Nollywood thriller, Directed by: Anonymous Keyboard Warriors.
Sir, Nigeria can be quite the place — a country where even breathing fresh air gets you accused of plotting a coup. But don't worry, we know the game. In fact, we know the script. And we also know that when they can't beat your integrity, they photoshop your intentions.
But here’s what I want you to remember:
You are not fighting for applause. You're planting for a harvest you may not even eat — and that’s divine. God sees that. We see it too.
Even if you re not yet in A*o Rock, you already live in the hearts of many Nigerians — like an idea that cannot be un-thought. You’ve become a movement, not just a man. And whether the world recognizes it now or later, the seeds you’ve sown in the conscience of this nation will keep growing like garri in cold water — quick and undeniable.
Yes, they’ll twist your trips, misquote your prayers, and even accuse you of owning things you’ve never seen. But don’t stop. Because we know: your offense is that you love Nigeria too loudly.
Remember: even Jesus was misunderstood, and He was literally perfect. So you're in holy company.
We love you, Sir
Mr Peter obi
