My Contributions To Selection Of Political Leaders At This Point.
The leader which you select or elect will make or mar your constituency, organizations or country. History is replete with wrong or right elections or selections of leaders to lead.
"Competition of ideas" is what we should watch out for and should be our watch word to choose the right party to vote for.
However, the personality involved must be scrutinized. From the cacophony of voices emanating from the society, demanding for good governance in our country; I need to write out or suggest the followings to guide us all of what we should do or follow.
What are the critical criteria, at this point in time, to choose our next leaders at various levels of our political leadership to run the affairs of the local, state or federal levels?
From my little knowledge of leadership selection process, I propose the following criteria no matter how amateurish!:
1. Trust:
Can our people trust your leadership?.
Trust is a major criterion to be considered; and lack of it had eroded and will continue to erode the confidence of the people in the leadership. Hardly will you believe any political leaders' words or promises!!! I assign a weight of 5 to this criterion.
2. Antecedents:
What the person had done before is also crucial to selection or election of intending leader. Although this is debatable! Some leaders might had emerged in the past and performed creditably well when given the opportunity. I attach a weight of 4 to this.
3. Emotional Intelligence:
This may look strange to some of my readers. The reason for this is that, with emotional Intelligence a leader will be able to put him/herself in the position of others to know what the people feel at every point in time. This helps the leader, a great deal, to make the right decisions that affect the people. I attach a weight of 3 to this criterion.
