This was also the year we made peace with our true calling. 2017 was a hectic year and an emotionally heavy year for us. But it was also the year we picked up our heels and got moving! A number of hoteliers or business owners tend to work alone because it is "their idea" but what we do not know is that getting a partner automatically increases our network and our ideas. Working alone increases our burden and in some cases may decrease our productivity. Now working with a team does not mean getting a permanent team on your company registration documents. It simply means work with people that may become emotionally invested in your business or a consultant that may guide you on what to do. A number of hotels have failed in Lagos today because the hoteliers went on Google to gain knowledge on how to run their hotel. Avoid things like this! There are actual experts out there structured to help hotels run properly. Yes, they are not free but they will save you from making more expensive mistakes.

Sometimes we can get caught up hating the fact that it is Monday that we forget to do the needful that ensures us a profitable week. 1) Have you planned your Monday and Tuesday? We usually advice that you start your planning on Thursday and Friday so you have a tight grip on your week. 2) Save your meetings for Tuesday, you may feel rushed and overwhelmed for a Monday meeting. 3) Stay positive. Starting your week on a negative note may determine the way the rest of your week may go. 4) Take 20 minutes to plan, plan plan. Before jumping into the barrage of email, to dos, responding to customers, or returning calls….organize your week and your day. Productive people have a plan. Sit down with a piece of paper (or your “go to” electronic task list) and map out your week. Don’t start putting out fires until you prioritize and create a game plan. Create a plan for the week, and most importantly the day. Haphazardly tackling Monday will set you up for failure, increase your stress, and yes, affect everything from your eating, sleeping, weight gain, and exercise habits. Make your lists, set calendar events, and help free up your mind a little for the week. 5) Plan something to look forward to: Whatever it is, it doesn’t have to be Monday. In fact, I would recommend planning it for mid or later in the week. It feels so nice having something fun and exciting to look forward to outside of work. It doesn’t have to break the bank either.

This is our goal here we desire to make people better. We want people to know that success only comes with hard work. Nothing good comes for free. Keep your head up and keep shinning people. The best is yet to come.
