Recession is Disguised Breakthrough

The best of minds do the extraordinary during hard times. The reason is because tough times task our creativities. The prevailing recession is opening up amazing opportunities that we have before now failed to notice both at individual level, industry level and even at the national level. The situation is however changing. Manufacturing companies that used to depend wholly on imported raw materials are now forced to look inward as a result of unfavourable foreign exchange policy that has before now over pampered everybody. This inward looking is opening up the agricultural sector that we have all abandoned. The federal government through the Anchor Borrowers Program of the CBN has rolled out incentives for those ready to take advantage of the emerging opportunities. At Numbo 1, we are not only positioned to be a major player, we are also increasing our capacity and human development in the field to guide those willing to come on board. This is the new gold and the next big bang in revenue generation

In the 80s, there used to be a popular radio jingle that says “Hard Time Nor Be Curse ooo; E Dey Happen to Every Nation From Time to Time” It was one of the socio mobilization campaign produced then to sensitize Nigerians on how to cope with the recession of the 80s then. Three decades after, we are back to same experience. In between we have heard a lot of terminologies and ideologies, policies and pseudo policies, actions and counter actions, statements of intense and pretense, declarations and pontifications. All dead on arrival.
Operation Feed the Nation left Nigerians more hungry. Inspite of all the hypes, Nigeria cant boast of demonstration farms or model agricultural projects that can be a major foreign exchange earner. The Structural Adjustment Program left Nigerians poorer and few individuals in government richer. In spite of all the hypes on Structural Adjustment Program, the Nigerian structure remains illogical, stiff and deteriorating. The Transformation Agenda only transformed the pocket of few individuals at the corridor of power. The key sectors that can really transform the economy of the country still remains the way they were or worse than our colonial masters left it. In a nutshell, all the so called policies to redirect the course of Nigeria has failed woefully because most of those policies were only theoretical declarations that lack sincerity of purpose and political will to see the programs through and leadership commitment to real transformation. In the absence of sincerity of purpose from those in government, political will and leadership commitment, it is practically impossible to inspire the needed buy in from Nigerians and when you expect positive response from those you are not capable of inspiring, your expectation is dead on arrival. The verdict is that the various governments since Independence have failed Nigerians.
How Then do we get out of this mess? While we keep on engaging those in leadership position by drawing their attention to their lapses and negligence, let us start with the little we can do to help ourselves. Government may have failed us on Operation feed the nation. But each and everyone one of us can borrow from the concept of the policy and adopt it and individualized it into operation feed yourself. Charity they say begins at home. We need to move away from our comfort zone and begin to explore other areas that can fetch us little money or put additional food on our table. At least, once there is food on the table, the brain can think better on how to overcome other challenges. I still see no reason why every family cant have a small garden. Micro scale farming may not fetch you the kind of money you can use to buy a car or build a house. But it can certainly make your family feed well and better and reduce your budget on food which can be diverted to other uses that will translate to better and quality standard of living. There is no reason why families that have a good compound cant have a small garden of vegetables, a small snailry of 5ft by 2ft. You don’t need degree in agriculture to manage these micro farms. My son is just 8 and only in primary 5 yet he manages a snailry perfectly. He perfectly takes care of micro livestocks. These are extra and alternative streams of income that protect us from whatever recession that the nation is passing through. Rather than spending time wailing over what government is not getting right, let us spend quality time improving our lives. We all know what the problems are and spending time recounting the problems will not solve the problems. Let us be solution minded.
This is the time for States to start thinking out of the box. I am quite impressed with the Benue State government when they recently went into partnership with some American investors in Agriculture development. The partnership is bringing in one billion dollars into Benue State Agric sector without a dime coming from the state. All the investors want is land and security. This will translate to 15,000 employments for youths. The multiplier effect of this on development for the state is unquantifiable.
Recession everywhere is a big opportunity for smart people. It was recession that gave a slave boy in a foreign land an opportunity to be a Prime Minister. This is the story of Joseph in the bible. This kind of story should not just be story telling for us. It should impact in our lives. Quality advice and consultancy services are still golden opportunities for smart people to make something out of recession. At Numbo 1 Agro Allied Services, we are making good use of the opportunities and to us, while we are joining other Nigerians to pray the Nation out of this recession, it has however opened tremendous opportunities for us and as far as we are concerned, recession is good business if you have the road map out of it.

Before now, I have always had the wrong assumption that Nigerian youths and graduates don’t want to have anything to do with agriculture. I am not the only person that has that wrong assumption. Even in government circle, statements and body language tend to suggest that wrong assumption too. But in the past two weeks when I took the decision to publicize what we are doing at Numbo 1 Agro Allied services, I have realize that the conclusion we have all drawn about Nigerian youths and agriculture is wrong.I have received a lot of business calls from people that want to do business with Numbo 1 Agro Allied Services. However, bulk of the calls I have received are from people calling for employment and asking to end their cvs. I took time to explain to them that Numbo 1 Agro Allied Services is not a white collar job. It is not a job where you resume with your tie and well starched shirt. Our vision is to TURN EVERY AVAILABLE ARABLE LAND IN NIGERIA TO WEALTH and that means we sleep and wake up thinking about farm. Even after my explanation, they still remain resolute to embrace the offer. This to me is an energy that various levels of government can tap into. Farming as it is today is not very attractive to the youths in spite of the opportunities inherent in it. But something can be done to make it very attractive. There are basic minimum lifestyle an average Nigerian youth and graduate needs. Sending him to a farm with no facilities to enjoy that minimum lifestyle is not realistic. But if they find a farm settlement with basic facilities that will enable them have that minimum lifestyle while earning a living will be a welcome development for them. So what stops various levels of government from setting up models farms with good facilities? In the 70s and 80s, we used to have model farms and farm settlement with good staff quarters and other facilities that make children of staff of those model farms live their normal life without any sense of deprivation. I have visited Maizube farm in Minna Niger State owned by Nigeria’s former head of State, General Abdusalam Abubakar. With what I saw there, I can afford to work there for five years without applying for leave. I have a former colleague that had visitors from Ukraine and when he was looking for a place of interest to take them to, I recommended Maizube farm and they went there and spent a weekend there. When they came back, they were so excited about the trip because of the facilities and the unique experience the environment offered them. This is a farm set up by an individual. What stops government at various level from thinking along that direction. The money that individuals have looted in government is more than enough to have a model farm in each local government of the federation and the multiplier effects on employment generation and foreign exchange earning as well as rural development can be amazing. Is somebody in government thinking beyond the rhetoric of political statements?

The Ebonyi State government recently said it was launching an agricultural programme tagged, ‘one-man-one hectare’.
This is a beautiful music for the ear and I only hope that it will be taken beyond the rethorics of political slogans. Available research has shown that Ebonyi state is the highest contributor to street hawkers across the country. Beyond pursuing this lofty program of one man one hectre, the government must also take a step further to re-orientate its citizens and make them to properly appreciate and understand better the arithmetic of monthly income. A lot of us deceive ourselves with our month salaries. I know somebody that earns N45,000 a month. With his highly starched shirt and well iron trouser and tie, he cut across as one big executive officer. But because I am close to him, I know that he has no savings. His salary is hardly enough for him. He has worked consistently for close to 12 years now and he still struggles to pay his rent. He has never paid his full rent as at when due. I have another friend that is into farming.Just a section of his farm devoted to vegetable alone (Ugwu) fetches him over N60, 000 a month. Another section devoted to plantain alone also fetches him almost N60,000 again every month. He has a small fish pond and another small cage for grass cutter. He does all of these along with his professional exams runs and yet he still has a lot of flexible time to do some voluntary community development projects. But my N45,000 a month guy hardly have enough time for himself. Sometimes he does not even have time for God on Sundays because his employers need him. Yet a whole lot of people still admire him and want to get his kind of job. We need to wake up and begin to tell ourselves home truth. I have more than 200 CVs that people have given to me to help them look for job. Once in a while I succeed in helping some of them to get somewhere to fix themselves. But if I have 200 CVs and I am able to help 4 to get a job, that is just 2% performance which is poor. But the truth is that the 2% performance from me is not because I am not trying my best, it is just that the jobs are not there. Remember the immigration recruitment tragedy where the stadium was filled beyond its capacity just because few vacancies were published. There is no amount of protest that can create job. The sector that promises a lot of jobs if the various levels of government are sincere and ready to open it up is agriculture. Even if government fails to do something, you can always start from somewhere. At Numbo 1 Agro services, we guide you through the process. For more information, get in touch and find out how we are restoring lost destinies through agricultural revolution. Take a personal decision to succeed and you will meet success.

In few weeks from now, Muslims will be celebrating their Sallah. like Christmas, Sallah comes with pressure and pleasure. Pressure for those that will be running up and down looking for money to buy rams and pleasure for those making all the money selling rams. When we were growing up, our parents in the villages hardly passed through these pressure because they rear livestocks such as goats and fowls. During festive period, they made money selling these livestocks. When schools were resuming, they sell of some of the livestocks to pay school fees. With little or no education, they did that effortlessly. Today we complain about everything amidst huge opportunities such as livestock farming. Stop The Wailing. Contact us at Numbo 1 and see how we are restoring lost destinies through agricultural revolution

The future of this country lies majorly on agricultural revolution and the earlier we realize this and start acting on it, the better for all of us as individuals and as a nation. If there is any sector that I will want the government to declare a state of emergency on, it must be agricultural sector. When we were growing up, both primary and secondary schools had demonstration farms. In fact part of our Agric science practical in secondary schools those days was that each student must have his or her own small cultivated portion of land. We called it rigs those days. My secondary school had a poultry farm. What has happened to all these lofty policies then? Moving forward, I think the ministry of education should mandate all schools to have demonstration farms. Farms as small as a snailry and small poultry can give the students a direction on what they can do with agriculture should they choose to pursue that in life. Also, the way English language and Mathematics are made compulsory subjects in secondary school, the ministry of education should make Agric Science a compulsory cost.
I still wonder why we still complain of the poor feeding of prisoners? Why can’t all Nigerian prisons have farm where prisoners are engaged in useful economic activities. This will serve dual purpose – give prisoners a new orientation of dignity in labour as well as generate enough food to take good care of them. Government must wake up and embrace green to gold. Call us today to guide you through this emerging Green Gold. At Numbo 1 we are in the business of Restoring Lost Destinies Through Agriculture

Numbo 1 is an emerging player in the Agro Allied Industry. We offer consulting services in the Agro Allied industry. We offer services such as setting up life stock farms, acquisition of land strictly for farming, live stock management services.
We are positioned to guide Nigerians that want to take advantage of the paradigm shift of the policy direction of the present government to diversify the economy from crude oil to other promising sectors. Truth be told, one of the idle sectors that holds a lot of promises for young Nigerians is the Agricultural sector. I am not quoting text book stuff here. I am practically into it and I have discovered that it is one sector that is flexible enough to accommodate anybody both those that have billions to invest and those that have just less than N20,000 to start. With less than twenty thousand naira for instance, you can start a small rabbit farm that you can grow into a money spinning farm in less than two years and probably graduate into grass cutter. One of my rabbits has given birth 4 times in just 7 months – January 1 2016, 6 kits, March 20, 2016, 4 kits, May 27, 4 kits, July 30th 2016, 6 kits but I lost one. By October, it will be due for another one. And you know what? I don’t spend a dime to take care of them. Rabbit feed mainly on grass. If I want to give them a treat once in a while, I give them corn and cassava peels which also come from my farm. Sometimes I also give them remnant of water melon that we consume on a regular basis. This is just a stress free way of making money. Even if you don’t want to do it on a full time basis, it is something that can be a second stream of income. But I can bet you that along the line, you are likely to replace your regular job with it if you try it out.
Don’t sit down wailing over the economy. The present situation we have found ourselves is a big opportunity for serious minded people. We have depended on oil money for decades and we have nothing to show for it because the money was mismanaged. The beauty of agro money is that it is in your hand. No government will mismanage it for you. Apart from making money from it, it supplies you fresh supplies from the farm. There is nothing like leaving on fresh ugwu, fresh plantain, fresh garri, fresh palm oil. If you are in doubt, just call and we will arrange a meeting and tour of my farms so you can see for yourself. Only serious call please because much as we are in this business to empower Nigerians, it is also strictly business. Don’t call to say you are coming to take rabbit or grass cutter. Nobody will give you any of our product for free. Call to say you are coming to buy rabbits, or order for fresh palm oil or book for training or asking for us to come and help you set up your farm.
Those wailing that they are yet to see the change this government promise should know that a change cant come even if government usher it if you refuse to change your mindset. The mindset that it must be a career in bank, telecom, oil and gas must begin to change for you to experience the change. I have experienced it and I am making good use of it. Come and experience it at Numbo 1 where Agro Allied Consulting services is being used to transform lives and restoring lost destinies.

We also have a subsidiary that is into fresh farm produce such as organic food stuff, fresh and undiluted honey, fresh and unadulterated palm oil. Give us a call today and experience the joy of a New Nigeria.
