“This VA job, it’s not for the fainthearted o.”
Let me tell you a small story.
A few days ago, I spoke with a fellow Virtual Assistant. Let’s call her Ada.
Ada looked very calm online. Her posts were neat, her captions inspiring, and her profile screamed “professional VA.” But behind the screen? Hmm.
Ada was juggling three clients.
One needed urgent graphics.
Another had “just a quick task” that turned into a 2-hour job.
The third sent messages at 11:45pm saying, “Can you quickly help me post this before midnight?”
Meanwhile, Ada had not eaten since afternoon.
She sighed and said something that made me laugh and think at the same time:
“My dear, this VA job is not for the fainthearted o.”
People think being a Virtual Assistant is just “press laptop and collect dollars.”
But the truth?
It requires discipline, patience, communication skills, time management, and sometimes… the strength of a Nigerian generator during NEPA wahala.
A little advice to my fellow VAs:
• Set boundaries early. Not every “quick task” is quick.
• Price your work properly. Exposure no dey pay bills.
• Rest when you need to. Burnout is real.
• Communicate clearly with your clients.
And to amazing clients out there:
• Respect your VA’s time.
• Plan tasks ahead where possible.
• Remember there is a human being behind that screen, not a robot.
A good VA can literally save your business hours, stress, and missed opportunities.
But for that magic to happen, there must be mutual respect and understanding.
So yes…
This VA job is not for the fainthearted.
But for those of us who love helping businesses grow, organizing chaos, and turning long to-do lists into completed tasks…
We’ll keep showing up. 💻✨
Because somewhere out there, a business owner is sleeping peacefully tonight because a VA handled the chaos.
And honestly?
That’s the real flex. 😉
How's your day going?
