Dear graduate job seeker above 26 years old,
Before you go in pursuit of acquiring postgraduate degrees, endeavor to garner some valid work experiences. Post Graduate degree doesn't enhance your employment chances if you have yet to rack up any significant work experience. In fact, it reduces your chances.
Don't get over academically qualified while market place inexperienced. If by 30 years of age you have a Masters degree and you've had no significant experience, you'd have a hard time securing an entry level position because you'd consider it beneath you and also difficult to secure a middle-senior level position because you have no work experience.
Except you plan going into the academia, piling up degree after degrees without stop gaps of valid work experiences will only lead to more frustration, having at the back of your mind, especially if you are a Nigerian graduate, that most of what we acquired as education are generally not applicable in the marketplace of ideas and opportunities.
Yes, take that 40 or 60k job as long as it can pay for your transportation and take care of some basic needs while garnering experience and applying to other places. The job is not beneath you. You don't want to get your dream job after two to three years only to be told "I am sorry, you don't have any previous work experience", and maybe by that time you are already 29. If you have a valid work experience, your salary can go from N40k to N300 or N400k. That's one of the dynamics of the Job market. Just make sure not to remain idle. You could also pursue self-development courses while working that job.
This is my own one kobo. Instead of sitting idly by waiting for the perfect and ideal paying job that matches your perceived 'worth' and 'qualifications', it doesn't hurt to get busy with something worthwhile.
From a Concerned brother to you.
