Meet Jidenna Caleb Ogbonna. My heavyweight champion who came out weighing a whooping 3.98kg to the amazement of everyone present at his birth. My heaviest baby yet. And boy, can he eat!
This was probably my most challenging pregnancy. I had hyperemesis gravidarum in the first trimester, as usual. Then I had to be placed on hormonal injections so that I wouldn’t have a miscarriage. Then the back and pelvic area pain? Had to wear a pregnancy support belt a lot. But looking at him now? It was worth it! 😍
Oh! Did I mention that my baby was supposed to be a girl but suddenly became a boy? 😂 Story time!
I first had a dream about having a baby boy on the 24th of June, 2024 (yes, I document my dreams). At the time, I was pregnant with my second child who we already knew from scans was a girl. In this dream, a doctor looked at my scan result and said I wasn’t having a girl but a boy. The exact words were “this is not a girl na. This is a boy”. I remember waking up feeling happy.
After that dream, I asked God to tell me my child’s name. And on the 3rd of July 2024, I had another dream where I was told the baby’s name: Caleb. This, for me, was another confirmation that I was indeed having a boy even though my scan results showed that I was having a girl. I excitedly yapped to a few people about this and patiently waited for delivery day. Imagine my confusion when baby came out a girl - Chizi, my feisty second daughter. 😂 I wondered what happened but laughed about it and moved on very quickly.
When I found out I was pregnant again (very much unplanned) in 2025, I immediately prayed for a boy. I really wanted to experience what raising a boy felt like. Time for my 20-week anatomy scan came and it very clearly showed that it was a girl. We even had a mini Biology class with the sonographer showing us the baby’s growing genitalia and how they can tell when it’s a boy or a girl (because my husband and I were quite curious). I still have the scan images and results from that day saying I was having a girl.
