At exactly 11:55 AM, I cast my vote at Ikole Ward 4, PU 16.

Let me address the rumors and desperate propaganda head-on, Contrary to the falsehoods being spread by panic-stricken opponents, OTUNBA OLUGBENGA PETER OBAFEMI and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) IS ON THE BALLOT.

I did NOT step down. I did NOT withdraw. I took part in this race to win it for the ordinary citizens who are tired of being neglected.

While I must commend INEC and its officials for trying their best under tough conditions, we cannot ignore the deeply disturbing flaws unfolding across our polling units today.

- In several units, several voters waited for hours in the sun before voting could even begin.

- In places where units opened early, BVAS failed to work.

- We noticed pockets of coordinated harassment aimed at scaring away our supporters.

- Massive Voter Inducement: It is shameful to witness members of the major parties engaging in open, aggressive cash-for-votes operations.

They impoverished the people of Ekiti and spent the most of today attempting to buy their future for temporary pittance.

This is not right. This does not reflect the "Omoluabi" heritage of honour that Ekiti is known for, nor does it reflect how we build a greater, self-sufficient state.

It is well.

DESPERATION IN APC CAMP: OBAFEMI CAMPAIGN COUNCIL DISMISSES PURPORTED ENDORSEMENT OF OYEBANJI BY ACCLAIMED SDP MEMBERS, REAFFIRMS SDP UNITY AHEAD OF JUNE 20 POLLS

The attention of the Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi Governorship Organisation has been drawn to a comical and unauthorised gathering reportedly led by the Ekiti State Social Democratic Party (SDP) Chairman, Ayodele Bankole, where they purportedly declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

The campaign council wishes to state clearly and unequivocally that we completely dissociate our candidate, his running mate, our structures, and the entire mass movement of the party from this shameless act of anti-party behavior.

This unauthorised meeting and supposed agreement were executed without the approval, input, or knowledge of the National Working Committee (NWC) or the true stakeholders of the party. It is a severe political anomaly for any individual to trade off the party's identity, especially when the SDP is fully in the race with a robust, popular, and legally recognised candidate in the person of Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi.

This laughable endorsement is a clear sign of panic in the ruling APC camp. Realising that Governor Oyebanji's poor economic and security record has alienated voters, they have resorted to purchasing the signatures of a few compromised state officials to create artificial confusion.

The public should note that the national leadership of the SDP remains fully backing Otunba Peter Obafemi.

We urge members of the public, civil servants, teachers, and our thousands of supporters across the 16 Local Government Areas to completely discountenance this fake endorsement. The individuals involved represent nobody but their own pockets.

The Obafemi Campaign Organisation charges the good people of Ekiti State to remain focused, ignore this last-minute distraction, and turn out en masse on Saturday, June 20, 2026, to vote overwhelmingly for the SDP and Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi to restore security and economic dignity to our state.

DEMOCRACY DAY: Otunba Peter Obafemi Reminds Ekiti of SDP’s Historic June 12 Roots, Vows to Restore Economic and Public Safety on June 20

On this historic occasion of Democracy Day, the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Otunba Olugbenga Peter Obafemi has extended his warmest greetings to all citizens of Ekiti State.

In a statement issued by his campaign Spokesman, Prince Adewale, he reminded the public that the very foundation of June 12 as Nigeria's Democracy Day is permanently tied to the legacy of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

It was under the banner of the SDP that Nigerians broke ethnic and religious barriers to collectively vote for true governance. Thirty-three years after that historic mandate, the spirit of the SDP lives on in Ekiti State as we prepare for the June 20, 2026 gubernatorial election.

Reflecting on the current state of Ekiti state, Obafemi noted that the principles of justice and public welfare have been severely neglected by the current administration.

Official data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows that under Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Ekiti recorded the highest all-item inflation rate in Nigeria twice in 2025, peaking at 28.17%. Local families face a severe cost-of-living crisis, with residential rents jumping by 50% to 100% and daily utility costs climbing sharply.

Furthermore, the state has dropped from being one of Nigeria's five safest sanctuaries to the kidnapping capital of the Southwest, with more than 56 persons abducted and 24 killed across 10 Local Government Areas.

"True democracy cannot survive where people cannot afford to feed their families, pay their rent, or sleep with their two eyes closed," Otunba Peter Obafemi stated. "We cannot claim to celebrate freedom when our traditional rulers are assassinated on our highways, pastors are murdered in places of worship, and residents are squeezed by a N70,000 minimum wage that cannot cover basic transportation."

Through his legally binding contract with the people, the SDP candidate promises direct structural intervention upon assuming office. This includes an immediate salary adjustment for workers to N100,000, tracking toward N150,000 within a year, the building of 1,600 affordable housing units, and the establishment of the 24/7 high-tech Ekiti State Security and Intelligence Command Center (ESICC) to eliminate criminal elements from our forests and highways.

As we mark this Democracy Day, the campaign urges all voters to ensure they have their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ready to exercise their democratic right to replace stagnation with genuine prosperity.

It is my blueprint to transform our land into a secure, productive, and prosperous state. If I fail to deliver 70% of these commitments by 2029, I will not seek re-election.

🛣️ VIBRANT INFRASTRUCTURE - We will use indigenous means to ensure the quality construction of rural roads to connect our communities and build 1,600 affordable housing units with flexible payment plans for public workers.

🌳 ENVIRONMENT SUSTAINABILITY - We will ensure we plant more trees, set up modern waste systems with recycling schemes and adopt climate-smart agriculture that will protect farmers from weather uncertainties.

🛡️ SECURITY TRANSFORMATION - We will set up the Command Center (ESICC) for 24/7 drone and satellite tracking of forests and highways, recruit and train 2,000 Amotekun personnel using military and police experts. We will also launch a Forest Guards Programme employing 500 local hunters.
