Have you ever been in a group where you felt invisible?

You show up, drop a comment, maybe even ask a question… and crickets.

No one responds. No one acknowledges you.

It’s frustrating, right?

Now imagine how your students feel when they join your online course community, eager to learn, but no one, not even you, makes them feel seen or valued.

Here’s the truth:

If students don’t feel heard, they check out.
If they don’t feel valued, they leave.

A thriving online group isn’t just about content, it’s about making people feel like they matter.

So, how do you do that?

1. Acknowledge every student from day one.
The moment someone joins your online course group, they should feel welcomed.

✅Tag them in a welcome post.
✅Ask an easy question to get them talking. (Example: “What’s one thing you hope to learn from this course?”)
✅Encourage existing members to say hello.

Why? This is because people engage where they feel noticed.

2. Respond to comments & questions
There’s nothing worse than a student asking a question in the group and getting ignored.

As the course creator (or community manager), make it a non-negotiable to:

✅ Acknowledge every question.
✅ Answer or guide them to a resource.
✅ Encourage peer responses to build connection.

Even a simple “That’s a great question. What do you all think?” can make a student feel heard.

3. Call out & celebrate wins
People stay in communities where they feel recognized.

✅ Did a student complete a module? Celebrate it.
✅ Did they apply what they learned? Showcase it.
✅ Did they ask a great question? Acknowledge it.

I would have loved to continue this, but it is getting long already. So, I will continue in my next post.

Till then, I'm Wasilat Adetogun, a community manager. I help online trainers, teachers, and coaches create a civil and organized community/classroom for their students.

Imagine standing on a stage, speaking to a packed auditorium.

People are clapping, nodding, maybe even taking notes.

That’s your audience—they listen, they consume, but they don’t necessarily interact with each other.

Now, imagine stepping off that stage and into a cozy gathering where people aren’t just listening to you, they’re talking to each other, sharing ideas, supporting one another, and building real connections.

That’s a community.

This is where many coaches, online instructors, and business owners get it wrong.

They focus on building an audience, growing their followers, increasing likes, and boosting visibility, but they don’t build a community where real engagement and transformation happen.

Here are the key differences;

✅ An audience listens. A community participates.
✅ An audience watches. A community interacts.
✅ An audience consumes. A community co-creates.
✅ An audience follows you. A community grows with you.

If you’re only talking at people, you have an audience.

If you’re creating spaces where people talk with each other, engage, and grow together, you have a community.

Why does this matter?

It matters because an audience may admire you, but a community will advocate for you.

Your audience will cheer you on from a distance, but your community will stay, support, and help you build something lasting.

So, ask may need to ask yourself, are you just growing numbers, or are you building a thriving, engaged space where people feel connected?

If you’re ready to turn your audience into a true community, that’s where I come in.

I’m Waseelah Adetogun, a community manager.

I help online coaches, trainers, and business owners create structured, engaging communities where real impact happens.

Let’s build your community together.

You launched your online course with so much excitement.

You spent weeks (or even months) creating the perfect curriculum, recording your lessons, and setting up your learning platform.

The enrollments came in.

At first, everything seemed fine.

Then reality hit…

Students started ghosting after the first few lessons.

Questions piled up, but only a few people asked them.

The energy in your community started fading.

Engagement? That became a struggle.

You found yourself constantly reminding people to show up.

You thought your course would run smoothly once it launched.

But now, you’re spending more time chasing students than actually teaching.

This is where a community manager comes in.

A community manager is NOT just there to reply to comments.

A community manager is the glue that holds your learning community together.

Here's what a community manager does for online courses:

Keeps the energy alive:We ensure that students stay engaged, excited, and motivated throughout the course.

Encourages participation: We spark conversations, create discussion prompts, and make sure students feel seen and heard.

Supports students:We help answer common questions, provide guidance, and make learning easier.

Drives accountability:We ensure that students follow through with the lessons, complete assignments, and stay on track.

Creates a safe space: We moderate discussions, enforce rules, and ensure a positive and respectful learning environment.

Collects feedback & testimonials: We help you improve your course by gathering insights and showcasing student wins.

So while you focus on teaching and delivering results, a community manager ensures your students stay engaged, accountable, and excited about learning.

You don’t have to do everything alone.

Let us work together to build a thriving, engaging learning community.

As an online school owner or lead trainer, you wear multiple hats - marketing, teaching, support, and more.

But let's face it, you can't do everything alone.

And what happens when you're not available to help your trainees, participants, or students?

Will they be left stranded, waiting for hours for a response that could have been resolved in minutes?

That's where having a support system in place becomes important.

As a community manager, my role is to provide guidance and support to your students, so you can focus on other aspects of your training business without worrying about their welfare.

By having a dedicated support system, you can:

¹. Increase student satisfaction and engagement.

². Improve learning outcomes and retention rates.

³. Reduce stress and workload, allowing you to focus on more important activities.

As a community manager, my goal is to help lead trainers and students navigate challenges and achieve their goals.

If you're looking for a reliable support system to help your students thrive, let's work together.

Pictures: Two different participants with two different issues that got resolved in few minutes and their feedbacks.

I couldn't sleep till around 01:00 am ish last night.

Mondays for me are always hectic but yesterday came with a touch of stress than the normal one I was used to.

What happened was that I and one of the graphic designers on my team have been on a particular design since Sunday.

There has been a lot of back and forth that were unexpected on this design because this is not the first time we are publishing its kind.

But this particular one was like the weapon fashioned against us. Lol.

It started from the content on the docs from my end not synchronizing with his which led to him copying and arranging the content the wrong way.

We first had to deal with that before we now dealt with the arrangement on the design.

This went on for a while before we could sort it.

We thought we were done until we published it.

Colour me surprise when my attention was called to another error by our collaborator for the post.

Kai.

The first thing I did was archive the post before confirming if there were more corrections to make, which they were none anyways.

I quickly carried my legs and ran into my team member's inbox to give him the new update.

Guy couldn't say anything, he was just laughing.

I pointed out the errors to him and the necessary changes were made.

I almost thought of postponing the post till morning, but I said no, it must be now.

I thanked my team member for his patience, the post was published, the collaboration invite was accepted and I went offline.

This experience reinforced my idea of what the work behind the scenes really looked like- that it's not always as smooth as what we see or show.

Not only that, it also added to my level of empathy because it made me think that if we all have the chance to talk about everything going on behind the scenes for us, no one will come here to belittle what they know nothing about.

Are you looking to create a vibrant online community, but unsure where to start?

With numerous options available, selecting a suitable platform can be daunting.

They've purchased your course and have been added to the classroom.

What's next?

Do you have an onboarding plan in place?

How can you ensure that they have a seamless experience throughout the duration of your training?

The truth is, people dislike stress, especially when it comes to something they've paid for, like your online training.

It's your responsibility to ensure that they have all their questions answered while they find their way around.

You might assume that students can figure things out themselves, but you'll be surprised to find that they don't know what you think they know.

To prevent your students or participants from feeling ignored after signing up for your training:

1. Put an onboarding structure in place. Not just an onboarding structure, you should consider a seamless one.

2. Show them around and let them know what is expected from them during the training sessions.

3. Show them where to find answers to the FAQs you have compiled in the past, if you have one in place.

4. Outline the training duration, activities, and schedules, whether daily live sessions, assignment reviews, or weekly live sessions.

5. Inform them of your availability for support and assistance.

These steps may look simple but they can go a long way in ensuring your students have a seamless experience with you.

In this post, I will tell you what I do in very simple terms.

Are you ready?

You know I have always told you that;

"I'm a community manager, who focuses on helping lead instructors and coaches manage their online communities."

Yes, yes but it occurred to me that the oyinbos there are kind of big so I want to break them down for you.

Reintroduction....

I'm Wasilat Adetogun, an online community manager.

Wait, I don't Web3.

This is what I do.

I help people who teach people online manage their online classes.

I help them keep their students in check by reminding them of what to do.

I help them take off the stress of having to explain processes or procedures to their students because that's one of my roles.

I help them pass information across to their students when necessary.

Basically, I assist people who hold online trainings to ensure that the activities in their classes run smoothly while they focus on other activities that bring people in.😉

I hope you now see that my role is not complicated as it seems.

I'm just here to ease the stress of online teachers.

Are you an online teacher/coach? Do you know one?

Let them know that I'm here to help them manage their classrooms.

Thank you for reading.

One of my favourite part of being a community manager are interview sessions.

I find AMAs (Ask-Me-Anything session) and spotlight interview sessions not only delightful and fulfilling but also gives me the opportunity to learn from guests and connect with them on a deeper level.

The sessions allows me to gain new insights and perspectives that I wouldn't have encountered in another way.

I always feel giddy whenever I have interview sessions, and I love them because they are one of the rewarding activities that come after the stress of planning and creating.

They serve as my form of therapy and balance at work.

Last Saturday, I meet with the people who had purchased Tailored For Tailors and we spent 72 minutes together.

I was able to give more hint on how they can utilize the content plan better and it felt fulfilling.

The session was recorded and it will be made available to anyone who purchases Tailored For Tailors from now.

It will serve as a bonus and an additional resource for them.
