When we talk about data privacy, how far does the conversation really go?
E-Terra Technologies Limited was at the Nigeria eGovernment Summit 2026 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, where the conversation focused strongly on data privacy, data protection and the role of technology in election management.
These conversations are critical, but there is another part of the data protection lifecycle that deserves attention:
What happens to the devices that once held the data?
Computers, servers, storage devices, election technology and other electronic equipment can contain sensitive information long after they are no longer in use.
At E-Terra, we believe data protection should not stop at the point of digital access. The end-of-life stage of data-containing devices matters too. Total data destruction must be done.
Secure data destruction and responsible e-waste management can help organisations close this often-overlooked gap.
Protecting data means protecting it throughout its lifecycle.
