PROTECTING OUR FUTURE:

Governments combat human trafficking through a comprehensive approach focused on the "4Ps" Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, and Partnership. This key strategies include enacting strict legislation, implementing public awareness campaigns, strengthening border security, training law enforcement, providing victim services, and collaborating with international agencies to dismantle criminal networks.

Leveraging public service to combat trafficking by organize social assistance and services, welfare services for the youth, housing and utilities, water supply and sewage provision of public services and amenities, public transport within the town or city and also creating maintenance.

This will reduce the number of illegal shelters, orphanages, homes and also enhance the services for victim of trafficking.

We can also run integrate trafficking topics into school curricula, and train stakeholders like teachers, nurses, and local authorities to recognize indicators.

The goal is to achieve an effective and efficient services and also establish shelters, provide legal aid, and offer rehabilitation services to help survivors.

United action stops trafficking, in collaboration with the government and citizens is key to eradicating human trafficking in Nigeria.

Let's work together to safeguard our future.

BE INFORMED

Human trafficking thrives in the shadows. It happens anywhere, we should be able to recognize the warning signs and be part of the solution….

Human trafficking is often hidden in plain sight, with traffickers using coercion and fraud to exploit victims in industries like hospitality, agriculture, and domestic work and in relatives. Recognizing the warning signs in everyday settings—such as hotels, spars, factories, restaurants, or clinics—involves looking for patterns of control, physical indicators, and environmental clues..

The impact we can play as a society to combat human trafficking is bringing awareness to social circles, families, and communities about the dangers and signs of trafficking, such as fraudulent job offers…

Offer training in skills acquisition, such as agriculture, ICT, or vocational skills, to vulnerable youths, thus reducing their susceptibility to traffickers.

We also need to understand the forms that trafficking isn't just international abduction; it occurs in local communities, involving forced labor in industries like agriculture, cleaning, and factories, as well as s*x trafficking.

We can act safely to report, and advocate for change, help shift the risk from the victim to the perpetrator, then make it harder for traffickers to operate.

We can break chains and protect vulnerable people.

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, has promised to join hands with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to implement the various counter–trafficking policies to reduce the increasing prevalence of human trafficking and violence against persons in the State.

The Governor made the promise at the Government House, Markudi, while receiving a team from NAPTIP led by the Director General, Binta Adamu Bello, OON, who paid him a courtesy visit.
While acknowledging the vital roles of other tiers of government as a component of the sub – national levels in the fight against any societal menace, the Governor commended NAPTIP for its visible presence in the State and assured that his administration would continue to give the required institutional support to the Agency to scale up its activities and reduce the vulnerability of the State to issues of human trafficking and violence against Persons and also make Benue a safer State.

Earlier in her address, the Director General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello, had commended the Governor for his support to the Agency through the Markudi Zonal Command and urged its sustenance.

She said, “Through sustained intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration, and community engagement, the Command has intensified rescue operations, victim rehabilitation, family tracing, and prosecution of offenders. Public awareness campaigns have also been expanded across schools, markets, religious institutions, and media platforms to expose the deceptive tactics of traffickers.

Benue State is a strategic State that deserves renewed attention in the fight against human trafficking and violence against persons. This is due to the large-scale displacement occasioned by a series of crises witnessed in recent times.

Your Excellency, the challenges ahead of us are quite enormous, and new initiatives must be developed to ensure adequate resources for the rehabilitation of returnee victims of Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration to mitigate the phenomenon of re-trafficking.

The Director, Research and Programme Development, Mr. Josiah Emerole, the Commander, Markudi Zonal Command, Mrs. Gloria Bai, and other Officers of the Agency accompanied the Director General on the visit.

Today, be reminded that human trafficking is not a make-believe issue; it is a grave reality affecting many lives around us, even in Kogi state. The perpetrators are often closer than we think, which is why we must stay informed, vigilant, and proactive in protecting our communities.

Many are lured with false promises of jobs or better opportunities, only to face exploitation, abuse, trauma, and a painful loss of dignity. Beyond the personal damage, it hinders development, fuels criminal networks, and affects our nation’s reputation.

We must work together to prevent it, support survivors, and hold perpetrators accountable.

Prevention begins with education. Our communities, especially young people and other vulnerable groups, must be informed about the risks and warning signs. We must educate them on how to identify the perpetrators of this act and avoid falling victim. We must also amplify awareness through media campaigns and community events.

Survivors also deserve more than sympathy; they need shelter, counseling, rehabilitation, and economic opportunities to rebuild their lives.

No matter your level in society, you have a quota to contribute. Together, we can protect lives and restore hope. Take a stand against Human Trafficking today!

.

Sometimes It feels so crazy with the African families, that you find yourself trying to convince your spirit to cut ties with, and just move on with your life, finding peace with total strangers making them your family because the rate of the entitlement mentality you get from your blood related family will not come from strangers.

African families feel that your success is their success but your struggles aren't their struggles, they watch you stress the hell out of your life with little or no assistance but feel entitled the moment they notice you've arrived, forgetting about your personal goals that had to make you stress yourself out.

Lesson: do not allow anyone with the complete body structure as you, give you extra stress, do for anyone as convenient, when the ones you would have looked up to weren't there for you, you didn't cause heaven to fall on them.

Have a blessed week ahead🙏🙏🥰

A survivor does not relinquish their fight for self-rehabilitation, instead finding solace and inner peace in activities that facilitate comprehensive rehabilitation. Assisting younger generations to avoid similar pitfalls serves as a means of personal rehabilitation, which is a principle I steadfastly uphold. Have hitch-free days ahead, everyone.
