Building Capacities and Strengthening Systems for Localisation in Nigeria

Through an ongoing partnership under the Promoting Local Response Capacity ( ) initiative, Nexus Consulting is supporting Sirri Care Foundation in strengthening its institutional capacity.

Nexus facilitated a Strategic Plan Development Workshop in Maiduguri, Borno State, enabling the Sirri Care team to define strategic priorities and establish a clear foundation for a comprehensive 3-year strategic plan (2026–2029). This initiative is supported through the NRC - Norwegian Refugee Council NORCAP Flexible Mini Grant (FMG).

This is localisation in practice, equipping local CSOs with stronger systems, clearer direction, and the capacity to deliver durable solutions. Nexus Consulting remains committed to building resilient institutions that drive sustainable development in communities across Africa.

Rebuilding Futures for Conflict-Affected Minors in Borno State, Nigeria.

Nexus Consulting visited apprenticeship centres in MMC and Jere, Borno State, to monitor the progress of rehabilitated minors supported under Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development’s peacebuilding initiative.

During the visit, Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi observed encouraging improvements in skills and enthusiasm as the children learn welding, tailoring, and other trades.

Through this initiative funded by the International Civil Society Action Network - ICAN, 20 minors are being supported with MHPSS, faith-centred deradicalisation, schooling and apprenticeships to strengthen their recovery and reintegration.

Building capacity. Strengthening systems.

As part of our commitment to empowering voices for sustainable peace in Northeast Nigeria, Nexus Consulting facilitated a capacity-building training on Community-based Transitional Justice and Reconciliation for members of the CARE Coalition for Advocacy, Rehabilitation & Empowerment drawn from Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States.

The training organised by ExploreAid in Maiduguri, Borno State, with funding from the European Union in Nigeria and Initiative Against Impunity, empowered CARE coalition members to support peacebuilding and recovery, and strengthen accountability in conflict-affected communities in Northeast Nigeria.
