JOENIK EDUCATION CONSULT at it again as First Baptist Church Academy, Oko hosted the team of Consultants in the pre-resumption Refresher Training for Teaching Staff of the school. Our consultants led teaching on:
1. The importance of Effective Followers hip in the Administration of a healthy Private Mission School.
2. Diversification of Teaching Method: A way to enhance optimum performance among students.
3. Table of Specification of a test: A way to enhance quality assessment of Students.
The training session was well attended with staff, all board members and Proprietor who is the Pastor of the Church.

Table of Specification and how it makes a difference.

According to Bloom's taxonomy of learning, the cognitive domain is subdivided into 6 tiers and it is expected that students are helped to achieve all the 6 levels.
The lowest being Remembering, comprehension/understanding, applying, analysis, evaluation and creation (revised taxonomy).

To ascertain the level of achievement in class, it is expected that students are evaluated on all levels, not just the first two (which is most common).

External examination are set to evaluate students on all levels of this taxonomy, hence, students who are not used to this finds these exams very challenging to deal with.

To ensure that questions are set across all levels of taxonomy and all topics in the term, allocating correct time of solving to each question, there is need to have a table of specification.

A table of specification is a test blue print, more like a pathway for a test to follow. It's a table with rows and columns. The columns include the topics, time allotted, and the 6 levels of taxonomy. The rows contains the topics by week and which aspect of the taxonomy is to be evaluated in the topic.

If you want your students to excel in life, it is important to prepare them to face challenges squarely, by being able to create new things from the information given to them, that way, they will not just be book smart but also, be life smart.

A manual on table of specification is available at 3000 naira only (e-copy). It details the verbs to use for each level, how to select questions to spread through all levels, a simplified version of the 6 levels into 3, several examples of completed tables of specification.
