The world is changing, and technology is becoming an important part of how we learn, work, communicate, and do business. Children today are growing up surrounded by smartphones, computers, and digital tools.

But beyond knowing how to watch videos, play games, or navigate a phone, have we started helping them understand how to use technology to learn, create, and develop useful skills?

There is nothing wrong with children enjoying entertainment. However, as parents, we can also guide them towards activities that help them discover their abilities.

A child who learns how to create an educational video, build a simple website, or understand how a phone works and fix them is beginning to explore skills that go beyond simply consuming content. These experiences can help develop curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving.

This is one of the reasons we created Waya Care, Phone Repair Kiddies School.

Our goal is to introduce children to practical phone repair skills, AI-assisted video creation, website creation, and useful educational content development, alongside an entrepreneurship mindset.

We are not expecting children to become experts overnight. We want them to learn step by step, practise with guidance, and gradually discover what they can do.

Mummies and Daddies, you do not have to wait until your child finishes secondary school before introducing them to practical skills. You also do not need to force them into a career they have not chosen. Sometimes, exposing children to different learning opportunities is how they begin discovering their interests and developing confidence in what they do.

If your child is curious about phones, gadgets, technology, or content creation, this could be an opportunity to help them explore those interests in a structured learning environment.

Our training is 100% online, designed for children and teenagers within our program’s age range, and delivered with practical guidance.

THAT PHONE IN YOUR CHILD’S HAND CAN BE MORE THAN JUST A SOURCE OF ENTERTAINMENT.

Your child already knows how to unlock the phone. They know how to take pictures. They know how to watch YouTube. They know how to scroll through social media.

Some can spend hours on a phone without getting bored.

But, what if we started teaching them what else that phone can help them do?

What if the same child who spends time watching videos could learn how those videos are created?

What if they could use AI to bring their ideas to life?

What if they could create a simple website?

What if they could learn how to create useful educational content?

What if they could also learn a practical skill like basic phone repair?

I’m not saying children should stop playing. Neither am I saying every child needs to become a business owner. Or that practical skills should replace their academics.

I’m saying that there is an opportunity in the technology already in their hands.

Instead of only asking:

“Why is my child always on that phone?”

Perhaps we should also ask:

“What can my child learn to do with that phone?”

This is part of the reason we created Waya Care, Phone Repair Kiddies School.

We want to help children move from being only consumers of technology to becoming young people who can use technology to learn, create and solve problems.

Because the future won’t only belong to those who know how to use technology.

It will also create opportunities for those who know what to create with it.

3 THINGS I BELIEVE EVERY CHILD SHOULD LEARN BEFORE LEAVING SECONDARY SCHOOL

Good grades are important, so as a certificate.

But I believe there are some things a child should also develop before stepping into the next stage of life.

1. How to learn independently.

School cannot teach a child everything they will ever need to know.

A child should gradually develop the ability to ask questions, find answers, practise, make mistakes, and keep learning even when a teacher isn’t standing beside them.

2. How to use technology to CREATE, not just CONSUME.

Children already spend a lot of time with phones and other digital devices.

But what if they also learned how to use technology to create?

Create videos.
Use AI as a learning and creative tool.
Build simple websites.
Create useful digital content.

There’s a big difference between simply using technology and knowing what you can create with it.

3. At least one practical skill they can apply in the real world.

Every child may not become an entrepreneur.

Every child may not become a technician.

But learning a practical skill can give a child something beyond a certificate — confidence, problem-solving ability and the experience of actually making or fixing something with their own hands.

And this is one of the reasons we created Phone Repair Kiddies School.

We want children to continue taking their academics seriously while also getting exposure to practical phone repair, AI and other digital skills they can build on as they grow.

Because education shouldn’t only prepare a child to pass examinations.

It should also prepare them for life.
