Even herbicide is a pesticide... Suprised?

A pesticide is something that prevents, destroys or controls a harmful organism (pest) or disease, or protect plants or plant products during production, storage and transport.

TYPES OF PESTICIDES - TARGET

1. Fungicides - Fungi
2. Insecticides - Insects
3. Herbicides - Weeds
4. Nematicides - Nematodes
5. Rodenticides - Rodents
6. Acaricides/Miticides - Spiders/mites
7. Molluscicides - Snails/ Slugs
8. Bactericides - Bacteria
9. Algicides - Algae
10. Avicides - Birds

So you see,what we normally refer to as pesticide which is insecticide is just a sub of pesticides. Even herbicide is a pesticide.

So when talking about a particular pesticide,be specific so that we will understand you as a farmer. Pesticide is generic.
No knowledge is a waste,my eyes opened the day i was taught about this because i made the same mistake as you.

Oh My Dear Farming, A Thing?

A friend contacted me that he wanted to invest in farming, the below screenshots were our conversations.

I am bringing it up because i need to correct some impressions concerning farming and agriculture.

He is my friend and that's why i reacted mildly.

First, Farming is a profession of hope,of love and of posterity because generations unborn will still depend on farming if they don't want to go into extinction.

Farming is the first profession man had from time immemorial and is still and will be relevant till the end of time.

Before you call any profession, you will first of all shout Farming/Agriculture because every other profession depends on human and every human depends on farming.

Farming provides the most basic need of man which is food,what about shelter and clothing. What other professions provides are secondary,we humans can do without them but you see food,shelter and clothing, they are basic/primary and are provided by farming.

Ok,another one i want to address is that farming is not ponzi. Farming like other professions involve risks,you can do all things right and still fail in some projects because biotic and abiotic factors can come as obstacles to your progress. Who knows tomorrow ?

Anyone who promises you unfailing/guaranteed returns is not a practicing farmer but a social media marketer who is after his own pocket,yes we write business plans like other professions, we get our projections right after calculations,we can tell you accurately what you can get after a farm project using calculated projections and they are possible, YES VERY POSSIBLE, but don't forget we are dealing with weather and climate change,what about the market ,price fluctuate too.

Like Egbon Farmer Samson Ogbole will always say, we don't blow here,we grow.
So dear potential farm investor, know ye that farming is not a thing,it is a profession with risks and that means that there is possibility of success and failure,there is no guaranteed return on investment but there is guaranteed success if you are consistent,knowledgeable, hardworking and a never-give-up investor.
