Every time I visit the clinic with my parent for their monthly checkup, I notice things that stay with me long after we leave. Sometimes, that waiting area feels like a small window into life itself.
I usually sit quietly outside, watching people move in and out while we wait for our names to be called by the student doctors or nurses.
One day, during one of those visits, I noticed a young lady sitting nearby. She looked calm, smiling softly, and focused on her phone. As a young man, when you notice someone attractive, courage slowly begins to rise like a quiet wave.
My eyes moved between her, my dad, and the nurses calling out names. I told myself it was time to stand up and say hello.
Then everything changed.
When she stood up, I noticed she was standing on one leg, and the other was supported with metal. In that moment, my confidence fell apart like sand slipping through my fingers.
A heavy feeling settled in my chest. I prayed quietly, asking God for healing and mercy. My mind was filled with questions, and I stood there lost in thought.
Then a gentle reminder came to me, like a soft voice in my heart:
“Be thankful to God for life and the grace you have been given.”
That day, the clinic became more than a waiting place it became a lesson. Life has a way of teaching us when we least expect it.
