Losing over 300 billion work hours in a single year shows how deeply climate change is already affecting productivity, health, and daily life.

If we don’t act, the cost won’t just be environmental. It’ll hit people, livelihoods, and entire economies. The heat will keep rising, more jobs will become unsafe, and communities with the least resources will bear the biggest burden.

The numbers are alarming, but they’re also a reminder that action today can prevent even greater losses tomorrow.

Some ideas shape you long before you realise it. For many of us, growing up without reliable power taught us to shrink our dreams to fit the darkness. Hearing , our Head of Strategies, speak about how light strengthens creativity and sharpens the mind and reminds us that electricity is a foundation for numerous possibilities.

At LightEd, we’re driven by that truth. We don’t want the next generation to treat power like a privilege. We want them to grow up knowing their ideas deserve brightness, consistency, and hope. This is the work we do and it’s personal to every single one of us.

Energy poverty is a harsh reality for Nigerians. Some kids have never seen their houses lit by electricity, and many families rely on polluting generators just to get by. Some communities have gone years without power and have lost hope for clean energy

The good thing is that we can now join hands in restoring that lost hope. LightEd is on a mission to bring clean and reliable power to underserved communities across the country. Partner with us today to help light up lives and create brighter futures.

You’ll be surprised to know how many people in Nigeria still live without reliable access to electricity. In IDP camps, rural villages, and underserved communities, nights are long, with families struggling just to stay connected to the basics they need to survive and grow. And when they eventually get power, they make use of dangerous fuels that pose as a threat to their health and the climate as a whole.

Across Africa, the story is the same, but on a much larger scale. Millions of people face the daily reality of energy poverty, while the environment bears the cost. Diesel generators and other polluting alternatives increase carbon emissions, contributing to climate change, while communities fall further behind in education, work, and access to essential services.

That’s why our purpose at LightEd is to actively create solutions designed to bring clean, reliable energy to the communities that need it most. We stay true to this purpose. That means children can study after dark, businesses can operate longer and grow, and households can reduce reliance on polluting fuels.

What started as the vision of a young boy who grew up surrounded by polluted air, unreliable energy, and piles of discarded electronic waste has grown into a movement bringing light to communities without power.

Since our founding, we’ve brought reliable energy to over 26,000 people, recycled thousands of kilograms of plastic, built community hubs, and provided lamps that restore safety, hope, and opportunity to the people.

We’re building a model that serves people and protects the planet, and with more innovators and changemakers joining in, this movement is on track to reaching and serving millions.

On this day in 1989, the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

It was the result of years of pressure after two world wars exposed how deeply children were failed. The labour, abuse and exploitation said it all. The 1959 Declaration tried to outline their rights, but without legal weight it couldn’t do much.

By the 70s and 80s, the world had seen enough trafficking, exploitation, and wartime abuse. This led to a binding treaty that set clear standards for protection, education, healthcare, and dignity.

It became the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history. It was a reminder that protecting children is all of our responsibility.

At LightEd, we take that responsibility seriously by providing clean, accessible energy to underserved communities.

When children have light, they can learn safely, study longer, and hold on to opportunities that darkness usually steal.

Here’s a little extra light for the men who carry more than they ever admit. The ones who wake early, show up consistently, and hold their worlds together with quiet strength.

You balance pressure, expectations, and dreams while still giving softness and guidance. Even when it feels like no one notices, the impact of your effort reaches farther than you think.

Today is a reminder that your presence matters, your work matters, and you deserve room to rest and breathe too.

Happy International Men’s Day from all of us at LightEd Impact.

Energy poverty is a silent drain on people’s lives. In 2024, Statisca stated that about 737 million people worldwide still lack reliable electricity access. That's a huge chunk of the world's population.

Most of these people rely on the old school and extremely expensive methods like using fossil fuel to generate electricity. Those in energy-poor communities might end up paying more per hour of usable light than people who have a dependable grid.

But the cost is much more than monetary. Inhaling smoke and fumes from candles and diesel generators causes serious health issues like respiratory disease, eye problems, and even heart strain. In Nigeria alone, energy poverty is widespread. An MDPI study found a high multidimensional energy poverty index, especially in rural areas. For children and pregnant women, these risks are even greater.

When power is unreliable, learning, businesses, and safety all suffer. Too often, children can’t study after dark, shops shut early, equipment breaks down, and communities can’t plan for the future. That’s why LightEd Impact is working to eliminate energy poverty and provide clean energy for all.

Everyone deserves energy that keeps them healthy and doesn’t poison the air we all share. Fossil fuels might be easy to get, but they steal lives, cause illness, and shorten lifespans. Yet millions are forced to rely on these dirty fuels that cause illness, shorten lifespans, and put communities at risk.

That's why At LightEd, we’re committed to making this vision real. We focus on providing clean and affordable energy to underserved communities, ensuring that everyone has the power to grow and thrive. We're providing the type of energy that gives people the chance to live safely and thrive without paying that hidden cost.

We’ve been following COP30 closely, tracking how discussions are shaping action on the globe.

The conversations moved from security, community resilience, climate-ready jobs, and even the integrity of the information people rely on.

Our leaders were rebuilding the foundation for how the world adapts, works and stays healthy in a warming century, and that's for the good of us all.

Today’s agenda even pushes that momentum even further. Energy systems, industry, transport, finance are the engines that decide whether climate goals live on paper or show up in the real world.

The focus is sharpening, and the choices made here will shape the next decade of climate action.

We’re following the updates closely, because what’s happening in Belém is a reminder that bold ideas only matter when they turn into bold decisions.

What we’re hoping for now is that the speed of implementation matches the ambition being discussed.

Tchau! Adeus! Till next year!

Kindness is one of those rare things that never runs out when you give it away. It brightens rooms, softens hearts, and reminds us that the smallest gestures can have the biggest impact.

To be kind is to love humanity fiercely and warmly. It’s choosing to care and provide for those living in underserved communities, to share a light, a smile, a meal, a hug, or words of comfort when it matters most. Kindness illuminates the path for others and brightens the future in ways we may never fully see.

It’s also how we protect the planet and everything that calls it home, by recycling, nurturing, and showing love in action. At LightEd, we believe kindness is light. It spreads, it warms, it transforms.

So today, and every day, let’s keep lighting the world with acts of kindness.

Happy World Kindness day from all of us at LightEd Impact Foundation.

We’re excited to announce that LightEd will be taking the stage at the .valley Accelerator Program, a global platform that champions ideas shaping the circular economy.

Taking the stage at the Circular Valley Forum, we will be sharing the LightEd story, how it all began, the change we’re creating, and the future we’re building through clean and renewable energy represented by our Head of Strategies, .

At LightEd, we recycle plastic and electronic waste to create renewable energy solutions that power communities. Our mission is simple and clear. We help turn waste into opportunity. By building solar-powered systems from discarded materials, we’re tackling energy poverty, reducing waste pollution, and creating sustainable livelihoods.

Being chosen for the Circular Valley Pitch is a big step forward. It gives us access to mentorship, resources, and partnerships that will help us expand our impact and share Nigeria’s innovation story with the world.

To our team, community, and everyone who’s been part of the LightEd journey, thank you for believing in what we do. This milestone is proof that sustainable change is possible when we act with purpose.
