Where you save your money is just as important as saving it.

Yesterday, one of my customers came to repair an old phone she had planned to replace. I was surprised because she had once told me she wouldn't spend another kobo on that phone again. Instead, she was saving to buy a new one.

So I asked, "What changed?"?

She sighed and told me something heartbreaking.

She had set a target of ₦250,000 for a new phone and had already saved ₦200,000. Unfortunately, the cash was kept in her house, and thieves stole it before she could reach her goal.

I genuinely felt sorry for her.

Her story also reminded me that saving money is not enough, you also need to save it wisely.

Today, there are safer ways to save. For example, if you use the OPay app, you'll find tools like "SAVE BOX , TARGET SAVINGS, and O WALLET". These features allow you to keep your money digitally instead of storing large amounts of cash at home.

What I particularly like is that you can set a savings goal and even enable automatic deductions on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis .The app moves the money for you until you reach your target, making it easier to stay disciplined while keeping your savings more secure.

No savings method is perfect, But compared to keeping hundreds of thousands of naira as cash in your house, digital savings can greatly reduce the risk of theft. All you need is to remember and keep your pin safe.

✍️Work hard for your money, but also protect it.

Have you ever used any digital savings feature like SaveBox, Target Savings, or O Wealth? I'd love to hear your experience in the comments.

You don't care what people say about you is not when you are into people orientated businesses or a service provider.

When you are ready for business, you will learn to care about what people are saying about you and your workplace attitude.

A self aware person will always turn people's criticism to cash .

NB ✍️: People's trust is the real currency for a sustainable business.

One lesson changed the way I run my phone repair business.

Your skill may bring customers to your shop, but your character and appearance determine whether they'll trust you.

Many people already have a negative perception of technicians and artisans. They believe we steal customers' parts, lie about faults, overcharge, or remove components from one customer's phone to repair another person's device.

Whether those beliefs are true or false, many customers walk into our shops with those fears already in mind.

I learned this lesson years ago.

When one of my cousins came to stay with me to learn phone repairs, the first instruction I gave him wasn't about repairing phones.

I told him to cut his hair.

At first, he thought I was being too strict. But on his very first day, I noticed the way customers looked at him. They hadn't spoken to him yet, but they had already judged him because of his rough appearance.

That's when I explained this to him:

"The money we're looking for is in our customers' pockets, and they will only give it to people they trust."

In business, people judge you before they experience your service.

Your appearance speaks.
Your attitude speaks.
Your honesty speaks.
Your communication speaks.

Long before your skill gets the chance to speak.

That's why I always tell technicians, artisans, and every service provider:

Don't only improve your skills.
Improve the way people experience you.

Dress neatly.
Be honest.
Speak respectfully.
Keep your promises.
Protect your reputation.

Trust takes years to build but only seconds to destroy.

And when people trust you, they won't just come back—they'll confidently recommend you to others.

People don't always patronize the most skilled artisans. They patronize the one they trust the most.

Do you agree that appearance and attitude can make or break a business? Share your thoughts in the comments. Let's learn from one another.

From Rubble to Resilience – My Story

On 23rd July 2019, I was still at the beginning of my journey as a phone repair technician. MINDED TECH Solutions was operating from a small container shop beside a bus stop.

Around that time, the Lagos State Government began demolishing what they called illegal structures as part of its effort to build a smarter Lagos. Although our area wasn't officially marked for demolition, but one overzealous officer directed the bulldozer to our side, and within minutes, our shops were being pulled down without notice.

I wasn't prepared for such a painful experience.

Some of my customers' phones were destroyed. Some of my repair tools were damaged, while others got lost. The few accessories I had for sale were also affected. It was one of the most heartbreaking moments of my life and business. For a while, I wondered whether I should even continue.

But looking back today, I realize that what seemed like the end was actually the beginning of something greater.

That painful experience gave birth to a new vision. I became determined to move my business into a proper lock-up shop where I could work with confidence, security, and peace of mind.

Two years later, in 2021, that vision became reality. I rented the shop I'm currently operating from, and it completely changed the direction of my business. Today, the business has grown beyond where I started, though not at it's best but progress has been made .

Currently, another round of demolitions is going on, affecting business owners across Lagos, and it brought back memories of that day in 2019.

If you are going through a difficult season right now, this is my message to you:

Don't allow one setback to bury your dream.

Sometimes life will knock you down without warning. You may lose money, opportunities, customers, or even years of hard work. But as long as you still have life, you still have hope.

Pick up the remaining pieces.
Rebuild.
Learn.
Grow.
Start again.

Monday is not just another working day but the first working day of the week.

As you all know, and as you agree with the principle of first impressions. The energy with which you start on the first day of the week is likely to follow you all through.

One tools/device that can dull or elevate your energy is your smartphone 🤳. This device can either speed up or slow down your productivity.

Malfunctioning phones can be frustrating and can make you lose business deals and contracts until you fix them.

Your clients and business partners cannot take you seriously if your communication link is unstable due to a lack of phone maintenance and that's where we come in to stop that embarrassment.

At Minded Tech, we fix all kinds of phone faults and run maintenance services at an affordable price.

If you have made the mistake of taking a problematic phone to work or business and are now quailing with it 🥲😅, bring it to us and we will settle the fight and restore the relationship between you and your phone immediately 😍.

Wishing you a prosperous and productive week ❤️ 🙏

SHE KNOWS IT WON'T WORK BUT JUST WANTS TO TEST HER FAITH.

She rushed into our workshop with her phone whose screen was broken, she too was heartbroken 😭 because she's about to incur an unexpected expense.

It happened on Sunday morning when she was preparing her kids for morning mass.

She has three children, so when she was bathing the last child, the two older kids were playing with the phone and suddenly began to drag it with each other.

In that process, one of them stoned the phone to his brother, and the screen was broken 💔😭.

She became very furious and shouted at them as an African mother, you know.....😁

Despite the disappointment, she took her children to the church with the broken phone 📱.

After the mass, she went and dropped the phone on the altar, and was praying and crying to God, that God should please restore the screen of her phone seeing that it spoiled while she was preparing to come to church to worship Him 😭😭😭.

After praying for some time, she collected it from the altar and went home. She decided she would keep it for about a week to see if her request would be granted by God 😘.

Then after one week, she went back to check if her phone had started working but was disappointed that the screen remained broken with more black ink than when she dropped it 😔 😲.

So, she brought it yesterday and we fixed it for her immediately and her joy was restored though her bank account was not happy 😁 😊.

The prayer request that was not granted at her church altar for one week is what we fixed in 30 minutes at Minded Tech 💪.

The same way this woman was smiling while leaving our workshop yesterday is the way you will always smile each time you patronise our services.

What issue is your phone giving you now which keeps you thinking if it's a spiritual issue or a technical issue?

Tell me in the comment section so we can help identify their problems and give you the best solution.

This elderly man rushed to my shop to confirm if we fix iPhones; he had seen our banner while passing by.

He has an iPhone 12 Pro Max that needs a screen replacement. He said he really needs to fix the phone instantly because it has not been long since her sister, who is based abroad, bought the phone for him and told him to handle it with Care as it's a quality phone and very costly.

So, he needs a competent technician who will not manhandle the phone. So I assured him that I would handle it well.

I asked to see the phone, but he told me that the phone is at home, he was just looking for where to fix it, but now that he has found one, he is going to bring it the next day.

I wanted to doubt in my spirit how an elderly man like him, who's not looking too good, will be able to afford the iPhone 12 Pro Max in this Tinubu regime, then I remembered he said his sister abroad bought it for him.

Then the next day, this man brought what I could not classify as any brand of phone, it's neither an iPhone nor an Android phone 🤣.

I asked, " So, is this the iPhone 12 pro max, he nodded in confusion, seeing my reaction, and every other person in the shop gave a pity face 😘.

I asked who delivered the phone and he said he went to the airport to collect it.

Then it occurred to me that the airport guys must have played a fast game on him knowing that he is not really informed.

As funny as this story looks, some young people cannot differentiate between Original and refurbished phones; that's why you need to carry a technician along or someone who knows a lot about phones or anything of value when going to buy them.

She brought her iPhone 7plus for screen replacement on Monday morning,
I asked if she was paying cash or through transfer, she said I should go ahead and fix it that she's going to pay from her bank app on the phone.

30 minutes later her phone was ready, instead of opening her bank app to send my money, she opened her dial app to call her boyfriend to send the money.

But her boyfriend was not responding positively to her request as he was not consented before submitting the phone for repair, she began calling family and friends but no one could come to her rescue.

She asked me to keep the phone that she will come in the evening to pick it up.

Later in the evening she came but without the money, she would call many people, send voice notes, do tiktok and check her social media handles for messages.

Before going she requested that I should give her the phone while she drops her simcard with me, that she will bring the money the next day ( Tuesday) to collect her simcard. But since I didn't work on her simcard, her request was rejected.

She will come to my shop morning, afternoon and night to check on her phone, chatt with friends on tiktok , WhatsApp and other social media handles, then drop the phone till the next day.

This continued till yesterday afternoon when she came with her aunty to renegotiate the price, her aunty said the 15k I charged her was too much for her l, seeing that she's a small girl.

Ahhh! A small girl that is already in a relationship, uses an iPhone 7plus and can take financial decisions on her own, where were you when she brought the phone home if you or her parents were not the one that bought it for her.

Well, 1 collected my complete money as their story was not really my concern.😞

❓ How would you have judged this case?

Do you think I should have collected 12k instead of the 15k since the supposed boyfriend whom she banked on failed her?
