Why Do “Dumb” People Sometimes Outsmart Smart People?
Smart people often convince themselves that hesitation is a strategy, but sometimes, it is simply fear disguised as logic.
The more aware you are of the risks, the more your intelligence can work against you. You keep calculating, analyzing, and counting the cost before taking action, while people who seem “dumb” or reckless simply go for it.
Take, for instance, Peller. Have you ever wondered why he is becoming increasingly relevant compared to some of the people we consider highly intelligent?
Think about it. 🤔
Sometimes, we tell ourselves:
“I will start when everything feels right.”
“I will start when I have all the resources.”
“I need to make it more professional first.”
Meanwhile, the people we call “dumb” or “reckless” have already started. They started before they were ready, learned along the way, made mistakes, adjusted, and kept moving.
And before you know it, they are ahead.
That is one reason I don’t overthink an idea. Once I believe in something, I move straight into action. 🤞🏽👊🏽
I remember when I started doing research about six years ago. I had no prior experience and barely knew what I was doing. I started with a ₦2,000 service charge. 😂
I didn’t have everything figured out. I simply started.
I learned on the job, improved with every project, made mistakes, gained experience, and kept going.
Today, I know how much I charge. 🤣🫣
I have taught and mentored numerous students, and sometimes I look back and laugh because this is the same person who started with almost no knowledge or experience. 😂
I simply started.
Don’t wait until you have everything figured out.
Don’t wait until you have all the money.
Don’t wait until you feel completely ready.
Don’t wait until everything is perfect.
START.
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 1:6 🫶🏽🕊️🤞🏽
And this one still makes me laugh whenever I think about it. 😂
My friend and I started Amazing Heritage Homes 🏠 from what was basically a random discussion when we had nothing to do.
Five years later, by the grace of God, that “joking discussion” has become a registered business with its head office in Osogbo. 🤣
Our first profit was ₦5,000, and we had to share ₦2,500 each. 😂
The next deal we secured?
Don’t worry, I won’t disclose that one. 🤣🫣
Looking back, I have learned one important lesson:
You don’t always need to have everything figured out before you start.
Sometimes, clarity comes after action.
Sometimes, experience comes after starting.
Sometimes, the opportunity you are waiting for is created by the step you are afraid to take.
So, whatever idea has been sitting in your mind…
Don’t overthink it too much.
