WHAT IS SANKOFA REALITY?

The term "Sankofa" is seen as a concept of Afrikan rebirth of knowledge. Historically speaking, the concept ...of "Sankofa" is derived from King Adinkera of the Akan people of Ghana. Sankofa is expressed in the Akan language as "Se wo were fi na wosan kofa a yenki." This literally translates to mean, "It is not a taboo to go back and fetch what you forgot".

Symbolically and visually, "Sankofa" is expressed as a mythic bird that flies forward while looking backward with an egg (symbolizing the future) in its mouth. This expression essentially means that "In order to understand our present and ensure our future, we must know our past."

"Sankofa" teaches us that we must go back to our roots in order to move forward. That is, we should reach back and gather the best of what our past has to teach us, so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward. Whatever we have lost, forgotten, forgone, or been stripped of can be reclaimed, revived, preserved, and perpetuated.

SANKOFA REALITY means something a little bit deeper than that. What this means is that while many people only see the term "Sankofa" as a concept that lives only in their imaginations, Sankofa Reality sees it as a reality which actually is the direct opposite of a concept. Sankofa Reality sees the term not only as an Afrikan concept for Africans alone but can be applied by all to address critical global issues. Intelligence is not a privilege; it is a gift which must be used for the benefit of humanity.

In philosophy, reality is the state of things as they actually exist, rather than as they may appear or might be imagined. In a wider definition, reality includes everything that is and has been, whether or not it is observable or comprehensible. A still more broad definition includes everything that has existed, exists, or will exist.

Philosophers, mathematicians, and others ancient and modern such as Aristotle, Plato, Frege, Wittgenstein, Russell etc., have made a distinction between thought corresponding to reality, coherent abstractions, and that which can not even be rationally thought. By contrast existence is often restricted solely to that which has physical existence or has a direct basis in it in the way that thoughts do in the brain.

Reality is often contrasted with what is imaginary, delusional, (only) in the mind, dreams, what is abstract, what is false, or what is fictional. The truth refers to what is real, while falsity refers to what is not. Fictions are not considered real.

THE LOGO design of Sankofa Reality is the brainchild of Dela Bobobee. The design is a reflection of the creative essence of transforming the abstract into something real or physical. This transformation is the combination of the three primary colours of (RGB) Red, Green and Blue to represent the three elemental forces of the Past, Present and Future. There is something very unique about representing the past, present and future with the three primary colours of green, red and blue. That unique quality is an important factor shared by the colours and what they represent.

That outstanding factor is what is called inviolability. Inviolability can be regarded as something highly sacred. The elemental forces of the past, present and future is explained in how they break protocols and are linked with the rules of relativity in physics. This phenomenon is usually expressed in a common saying that “The only thing permanent in life is CHANGE, which invariably is likened to God Almighty, the creator of all things. God is usually referred to as the UNCHANGEABLE CHANGER. Perhaps the trinity reality linking God in three persons may be a little bit esoteric to be reflected in this context.

Sankofa Reality logo means that although the past, present and future can not be changed individually, by mixing them at various points of perceptions, one can effectively alter what can be generated by the interaction. The inviolability of the past, present and future is hereby compared with the inviolability of the three primary colours which can not be made by mixing other known colours but they can be mixed to obtain other new colours. Where the Past, Present and Future meet can be used effectively for the benefit of mankind. The point where they intercept at various perceptions can reproduce other new vibrant colours.
