1. If you've joined a legit real estate company. This provides you with a community cover offered by the company’s Human Development Dept. This department trains and equips its members with skills, such as sales, marketing, advertising presentation, social media effectiveness, etc.

The importance of sales cannot be overemphasized. It compliments almost every skill we have.

2. If you’re already reading: you cannot earn money in the absence of knowledge or information. You must arm yourself with premium knowledge.

Most skills that will make you stand out as a realtor can be acquired through reading such as communication skills.
Reading boosts your knowledge bank so you need to read as many books as you can.

3. If you’re already occupying leadership positions: Being able to bring people together, teach, and guide them, shows that you are a leader. You must replicate what you learn from the relevant communities you belong to.

This is a way to expand and duplicate on time. It is said that “wealth is built in communities”. You make your mark by finding a way to impact others with what you know.

4. If you have a mentor: You may not always have the time or opportunity to talk to the top player in your community because he or she is trying to carry everyone along and this is usually tasking.

We've seen a lot of individuals get very excited at the thought of becoming realtors but after a while, the story changes to regrets. After careful examination and from our years of interaction with countless realtors, we’ve discovered 3 dreadful mistakes that you MUST avoid if you want to build a thriving career as a realtor.

1. Not having a mentor: The place of a mentor in your journey cannot be overemphasized. Some men and women have gone through the path you want to tread and they are successful.

Wouldn't it be easier to learn from their experience and equip yourself with what works?

Get their books. Attend their training. Join their community. Add value to them in any way that you can. This is how you get their attention.

2. Promoting random real estate listings: Rookie realtors often make this mistake because they think it is the quickest way to “cash out”.

If this is the mindset that you've had, please drop it. Real Estate is not a get-rich-quick scheme. You must be willing to put in the work and do it genuinely.

Most listings are not verified and as such, promoting them wouldn't give you the results you seek in the long run. This is why you need to be a part of a system that helps you make money consistently and you also learn how to make detailed sales.

Jumping into every real estate listing you see and looking for meager cuts is not sustainable.

3. Participating in deals without negotiating your commissions: If you want to record success as a realtor and still have your peace of mind intact, ensure that you join a system where your commissions are intact.

It's sad to see realtors fight at the end of a transaction because there wasn't any clear explanation of how commissions will be disbursed. If this goes on it wouldn't be long before discouragement sets in.
