WHAT YOU NEED TO TAKE SERIOUS ABOUT HATCHLINGS (Baby Snails).
Hatchlings require a lot more humid and moist condition than adult snails; they also require a very clean environment/pen because most times their faeces becomes their greatest problem. Until these factors are achieved it'll be extremely difficult to raise a baby snail to grower level, talk less of point of lay.
I want your farms to experience rapid growth and to achieve that, you must give value to proper housing, egg incubation and good care to hatchlings. If these are in place, it'll reduce your worries. The success of raising your hatchlings will determine a great deal in the success of your farm.
I have always recommended Bucket system in raising hatchlings due to its effectiveness in managing hatchlings; the moisture is uptimum and breeze control is perfect. I have used it for years and it has been so fantastic. It is the best way I have known to raise baby snails, although it has the disadvantage of spacing since the bucket may not take so much, and that implies that you'd need much buckets to achieve a commercial value. With the advent of the Bonniehood Intensive Model it'll be easy to now tamper with the challenges of the BS
So, these hatchlings are usually fed with tender leafs and fruits such as pawpaw, cocoyam leafs, green leafs, water melon etc and calcium supplements (preferably eggshell) for a good shell development and general health.
If you are using any of the intensive soil systems ensure that the soil in the pen is kept moist, but avoid water logging, sprinkle/provide water appropriately. The pen should be fitted with wire mesh to avoid escape. Hatchlings and juveniles may be kept at a density of 100/m2. Overcrowding is a bad issue and must be curtailed to be able to raise baby snails properly.
