I sell every day. Do I really need CAC?
Let me ask you something.
You sell clothes, food, wigs, shoes, skincare, cakes…
Money enters your account almost every day.
So you’re asking:
‘‘Favour, do I really need CAC? I’m already doing business.’’
And honestly?
I understand why you’re asking.
But let me ask you another question.
If you are already making sales every day…
What exactly are you waiting for before you start treating that business like a real business?”
Because CAC registration is not what suddenly makes you start selling.
You are already selling.
What CAC does is help give your business a recognised legal identity.
It puts your business on record.
So instead of saying,
‘This is the business I run from my house,’
you can say,
‘‘This is my registered business”
And please, don't get me wrong.
CAC registration does not mean you will suddenly start making more money.
It doesn't magically bring customers.
It doesn't replace good products, marketing or proper record keeping.
But your business can be making money today…
And still have a weak foundation underneath it.
And that is where many small business owners get into trouble.
They spend all their energy chasing customers…
But nobody is helping them build the business behind those customers.
So if you've been saying,
‘I’m still small. I don't need CAC yet,’
I want you to think about this:
"What if the opportunity you have been praying for comes tomorrow…?”
And the person asking for your business documents is the first person to make you realise that you are not as ready as you thought?”
Don't wait until opportunity comes knocking before you start looking for the key.
Build the business properly while you are still growing.
And if you are a Nigerian business owner trying to understand CAC, compliance and how to structure your business properly, follow me.
I am The Business Nurse.
And we're going to take this business thing one step at a time.
Tell me in the comments: Is your business already registered with CAC, or are you still thinking about it?”
