As a facilitator/trainer, I had an incredible opportunity to empower local communities in Nigeria! ✨🛒 Partnering with and International, supported by , we used Minecraft to involve market women, traders, and youth in designing their own open space. 🏬👩‍🌾👨‍💼 In just two days, we witnessed the incredible creativity and collaboration as they crafted their market using the innovative Block by Block methodology. 🌟👏 Truly inspiring to see communities shaping their spaces with technology!

Oworonshoki Youths Cleanup Drainage Channels as they Promote Community Waste Recycling*

This exercise was launched by Oworo Youth Forum (OYF) to discourage indiscriminate waste disposal by residents which usually end up in drainage channels or gutter causing flooding of public roads and damage of properties.
A total of 35 bags of waste were picked from the drainage channel along Oworo road by Oyenubi junction and Ogundairo Junction. Pet bottles predominate with 21 bags out of 35 bags, followed by Nylon (sachet nylon and polythene bags).

While the youth use this opportunity to sensitize residents on waste recycling and management, Lagos State Public Works Corporation were also rehabilitating the road but without factoring drainage construction as part of the project

Oworonshoki Youths use this opportunity to plead to Lagos state public works to consider the proper construction of drainage along Oworo road. Oworonshoki Youths had previously written a letter to this effect to Lagos State Public Work Corporation and hope their request will be considered.

Kemi, a resident of Oworonshoki appreciate the youth on effort so far in community development, he explained that when it rain, most part of Oworo road is usually flooded due to clogged drainage channel. If the drainage problem is not solve along side with the ongoing road rehabilitation, there is high tendency of the road collapsing and going back to its initial state in less than six month.

1. Rake all the plastic and other waste in the canal.
2. Promote community waste recycling
3. Discourage improper waste disposal

*Time* : 8am - 9am.

*Meeting point* : Oworo road by Oyenubi Street
