What is Offshore drilling?
It is an oil exploration operation done beneath the water surface.
It is the process of extracting petroleum from reserves located beneath the ocean with the help of a drilling rig. While the one done on mainland is called Onshore drilling.
Drilling of oil and natural gas underseas is much more challenging than drilling on land.
Extraction, transportation, and environmental protection are all relatively more difficult with offshore drilling than with traditional wells. This is why companies and governments spend huge amount of money for offshore drilling.
Adding effort to make this process more simple, petroleum companies have developed offshore oil platforms to aid in this extraction.
Some method of extracting the oil and gas from beneath the ocean and moving it to the surface without losing it must be developed. This method include having what is called Subsea template. This template is simply a large metal box with holes in it that is used to guide the drilling process and marks the site of each production well. A mud is regularly sent beneath the ocean to lubricate, tighten the walls of the drilling rig and extract broken earth rocks to the surface.
It can take days, weeks and months to drill petroleum depending on the location and depth of the raw material.
Most treatment and transportation of oil drills are done Onshore (mainland).
Having provided services for clients such as Mobil, NNPC and Cheveron, Kyje Geodrill Services Limited a geo-technical, hydro-geological and civil engineering company in Nigeria have proven records of expertise in the field of Offshore and Onshore drilling services.
