After JAMB results come out⦠thatās when the real game actually begins.
A lot of people donāt realise this.
Youāll see someone score 280, 290, even 300⦠and still end up without admission.
At the same time, someone with 220 secures admission smoothly.
So what really happens in between?
Itās not luck. Itās decisions.
Thereās that student who scores very highā¦
But refuses to adjust.
Still holding on to Medicine, Law, or Pharmacy in a top federal school, ignoring how competitive it is.
No backup plan. No flexibility.
At the end of the year, nothing.
Because the truth is simple:
A high score does not automatically give admission.
Then thereās the average scorerā¦
190, 210, 230. Not bad at all.
But the mistake?
Still choosing the most competitive schools.
Delaying the change of institution.
Waiting⦠hoping⦠doing nothing.
Opportunities pass quietly.
Admission goes to those who moved early.
Another group? They actually did well.
But after the exam⦠they relax.
They donāt check updates.
They donāt monitor their admission status.
They forget to upload results.
Some even get admission⦠and lose it because they didnāt accept it on time.
Yes, that happens more often than people admit.
And letās not ignore this oneā¦
Students who stop reading after JAMB.
Meanwhile, schools undertake screenings or post-UTME, resulting in performance reductions. Chances are reduced.
That second stage is important.
Then there is one of the major silent mistakes...
Not monitoring JAMB CAPS on a regular basis.
Offers arrive.People do not see it.They do not accept it.
Just like that... It is gone.
So, why does this keep happening?
Most students prepare for their exams. But not for what comes next.
There is no clear plan. There is no direction. There was too much delay.
What about that gap? This is precisely where admission is lost.
If you really want admittance this year, do the following differently:
When your results come out...Do not let the celebration last too long.
Sit down and face it.
If it is high, keep alert and ready for the following stage. If it is average, be intelligent and adaptable. If it is low, act quickly and adjust early.
Check the actual cut-off marks. Not making assumptions.Know where you really stand.
If you need to change courses or schools, do it early.
Some courses have quotas to fill.
Those courses are accredited by professional bodies other than NUC.
They must stick to this quota. Find out, because once the quota for the year is met, that is it.
However, some colleges go overboard, seeking to shelve students before graduation.
That time alone can change everything.
Prepare again. Yes again.
Because JAMB is not the last stage.Consider the Post-UTME or screening as your second chance to establish yourself.
Upload your O'level results appropriately.Do not just assume it is there.
More importantly...
That is the part no one actually teaches.
JAMB is only the first gate.
Admission is about timing. Strategy. Smart decisions.
If you have been through this procedure previously, you already know...What error did you make, or nearly make?
If you are preparing now...What score are you going for?
