You didn’t enter marriage alone.

You came carrying a map you did not draw, and your spouse came carrying one too.

The work of marriage is not to erase either map, but to understand them deeply enough to create a shared map where two histories can become one future.

Dear Brain, We Need to Talk.

Honestly, I deeply appreciate your commitment to keeping me safe.

But we need to have a little conversation.

When someone walks past me without saying hello…

Please stop immediately concluding that they are angry with me. 😂

They may not have seen me.

They may be distracted.

They may genuinely be having a terrible day.

Or perhaps…

they just need glasses. 😂😂😂

And when someone replies to my message with just “Okay.”

Please don’t start conducting a full investigation.

No, we don’t need to analyse the punctuation.

Yes, I saw the full stop.

No, we do not need to consult three friends about what it means. 😂

Sometimes, “Okay” is just okay.

Dear Brain, not everything is about me.

And honestly?

That is a very freeing thought.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Yours sincerely,

A woman who is learning to stop taking everything personally. 😂❤️

Psychologist’s note: Our brains naturally try to make sense of ambiguous situations. When we don’t have enough information, we can sometimes fill in the gaps with assumptions that feel like facts.

The next time your mind tells you, “They are upset with me,” “I must have done something wrong” or “They don’t like me anymore,” pause and ask:

“What else could be true?”

That one question can create space between what happened and the story your mind created about what happened.

Now, be honest…

Have you ever completely misread a situation because your brain filled in the blanks? 😂

Tell me your funniest one. 👇🏽

New week. New intention. Same you — but more aware. 🌿
She woke up on Monday dreading the week ahead. Inbox full, schedule packed, energy low. She opened her journal and wrote one question:
"What do I actually need this week?"
Not what her boss needed. Not what her family needed. What SHE needed.
She wrote: rest, clarity, and one win I can be proud of.

By Friday she hadn't done everything on her list. But she'd done the right things. And for the first time in months, the weekend felt earned — not escaped to.
That's what intentional living looks like. Not perfect. Not always pretty. Just aligned.
This week, before you fill your calendar with everyone else's priorities — pause. Ask yourself that same question.

We'll wait. 🌱
What do you need most this week? Drop it in the comments 👇
At Aome Consults, we help you live and lead with intention — not just activity.

Closed for maintenance

I think I need a break. 😂

Not a holiday.

Not a vacation.

Not even a weekend getaway.

I need a break from…

MY OWN THOUGHTS. 😂😂😂

Because honestly, sometimes my body is sitting peacefully in the living room but my mind is:

Replaying a conversation from 2017.

Planning an argument that may never happen.

Solving problems that nobody has brought to me.

Remembering something embarrassing I did 15 years ago.

And suddenly asking, “But what if…?” 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

At this point, I would like to formally request that my brain close for maintenance.

It is the last day of July, and I think we have all done enough. 😂

So, August, please be kind to us. 🙏🏽

Psychologist’s note: Sometimes the body is resting while the mind is still running overtime. That mental noise can be exhausting too. Not every thought deserves your attention, and not every problem needs to be solved today.

Sometimes, you simply need to pause, breathe and give your mind permission to rest.

Now, excuse me while I try to convince my brain that August does not need a full briefing on everything that could possibly go right or wrong. 😂😂😂

They may not chase praise or need to be noticed.

But they feel unsettled when someone is disappointed, misunderstood or unimpressed.

So they explain too much. Adjust too quickly. Say yes when they mean no. Choose what feels acceptable over what feels true.

Sometimes this is an inner map shaped by approval-seeking: the quiet belief that being liked, understood or approved of is necessary for safety.

But not every disappointment means you have done something wrong.

You are allowed to be kind without becoming smaller.

Where have you been choosing acceptance over authenticity?

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF UNRELENTING STANDARDS

They are capable. Reliable. The one people count on.

They meet the deadline, solve the problem and keep themselves composed. Even when they are tired, they tell themselves, “Just push a little more.”

But rest can feel undeserved. A mistake can feel bigger than it is. Success is quickly replaced by the next thing that must be done.

Sometimes this is an inner map shaped by unrelenting standards: the belief that worth must be proved through performance.

High standards can build excellence. But they should not become a life sentence.

You are allowed to be valuable before you have finished everything.

When was the last time you let “enough” be enough?

They came looking for answers. They left with hope—because one conversation changed everything.
She walked into the room carrying questions she couldn't answer and burdens she could no longer hide. He arrived feeling overwhelmed, convinced no one would understand. Neither expected all the problems to disappear in a single session.
But they found something they had been missing—a safe space to speak, to be heard, and to breathe again.
As the conversation unfolded, fear slowly gave way to clarity, and hopelessness made room for possibility. They didn't leave with every answer, but they left with something just as important: hope, direction, and the courage to take the next step.
Sometimes, healing doesn't begin with having all the answers—it begins with one meaningful conversation. 🌿
Start that conversation today with Aome Consults.

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF SELF-SACRIFICE

She notices what everyone needs.

She remembers the dates, carries the worries, fills the gaps and keeps giving, even when she is tired.

But when it is time to choose herself, guilt appears.

Sometimes this is an inner map shaped by self-sacrifice: the quiet belief that love means being useful, available and needed.

Care is beautiful.

But disappearing inside care is not.

You can love people deeply without leaving yourself out of the room.

Where have you been giving more than you allow yourself to receive?
