Most of the messages I get from some people with BSc, BEng, BTech or whatever they call it are honestly annoying.
How can you say that HND plus PGD is equal to “Part 3” in the university? That’s an insult.
I’ve seen many BSc, BEng, or BTech students who don’t even know basic site applications. Let’s not even go there. We’re not here to insult each other; we’re here to tell the truth.
You have your strength and power in your area. We, the HND-based engineers, also have our own strength and power and, to be honest, ours is sometimes even more important. Because in most cases, basic practical knowledge is more than enough.
Theory without application is useless. My former boss once hired a BSc holder on Friday and fired him on Monday because he didn’t even know where to put the plumb line. Transferring the line from the profile board to the foundation became a big problem for him. And he was fired.
At that point, nobody cared about whether he had a 2:1 or a 2:2.
If you think everything is about your degree and you keep boasting that you’re “all-in-all,” who will take you seriously?
Let’s be honest whether you have HND, BSc, BEng, BTech, or BNG does not make a man. What matters is how you improve yourself, what you know, and what you can deliver on site or in the office.
I have seen HND holders delivering massive projects and handling high-rise buildings confidently. And who are the ones in the office? The same people supporting them with design and theoretical checks.
Please, let’s not forget individuality. Some people, even with just an HND background, train themselves so well that they can do and undo.
If you want to bring that same pride and trolling style you use on Twitter into this serious discussion, we can “change it” for you.
Don’t forget, I represent HND fully blood, bone, body, spirit, and soul.
And let me also remind you: do you think many of us who went to polytechnic don’t have the capacity to go to university? We chose to go for ND and HND for
