Tuggar Campaign Fires Back: “Those Speaking For Us Were Never Mandated”
The political storm in Bauchi State has taken a fresh twist as the Yusuf Maitama Tuggar Campaign Organisation rejects claims that its supporters have accepted the outcome of the APC governorship primary and pledged loyalty to the party’s consensus candidate.
In a strongly worded statement, the campaign described the reports as false and misleading, insisting that they do not represent the position of Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar or his supporters.
According to the organisation, the individuals who recently appeared before the media claiming to speak for Tuggar’s supporters admitted they had no official mandate to do so.
“They speak for themselves, not for Ambassador Tuggar or his supporters,” the statement noted.
The campaign also challenged the legitimacy of the APC consensus process in Bauchi, arguing that no proper governorship primary was conducted and that the process lacked the wide consultations and voluntary agreement required for a genuine consensus.
Despite the controversy, Tuggar’s camp reaffirmed its commitment to the APC, the party’s constitution, and the rule of law, while warning the public and media to separate the voices of self-appointed groups from the official position of the campaign.
The organisation maintained that Tuggar’s supporters cut across all 20 local government areas of Bauchi State and cannot be represented by a few individuals.
The battle for Bauchi’s political future appears far from over.

🚨 NAPTIP Raises Alarm: Human Trafficking Has Entered a New Digital Age, Young Nigerians Targeted
A new warning has emerged from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC): human trafficking is no longer limited to physical exploitation — criminals are now using technology to trap victims online.
The agencies revealed that criminal networks are increasingly luring young Nigerians with fake job offers in areas such as IT, digital marketing, cryptocurrency, and customer service, only to force them into cyber-enabled fraud operations abroad.
According to NAPTIP Director-General Binta Adamu Bello, victims are often promised well-paying jobs but later have their passports seized, their movements restricted, and are forced through intimidation, violence, and psychological pressure to participate in online scams.
"The victims themselves become prisoners trapped behind computer screens, trapped behind false promises, trapped behind organised criminal networks, and trapped behind fear," Bello said.
She disclosed that so-called "scam hubs" have expanded across countries including Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos, where trafficked persons are forced to carry out romance scams, cryptocurrency fraud, and fake investment schemes.
NAPTIP revealed that it rescued and repatriated more than 300 victims of this new form of trafficking from Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire in 2025, while 156 victims have already been rescued this year through international cooperation.
The agency also said its Cyber Response Team has uncovered and dismantled suspected scam centres in Nigeria where youths were allegedly trained for cybercrime activities.
⚓ Navy Rescues Trafficking Victims
In a related development, the Nigerian Navy handed over rescued suspected trafficking victims to NAPTIP after an operation by its Forward Operating Base in Badagry.
The victims underwent documentation and screening before being transferred for rehabilitation, protection, and further investigation.
UN Warning: Joblessness Is Fueling the Crisis
UNODC Country Representative Cheikh Toure warned that unemployment, poverty, and lack of opportunities are creating conditions that traffickers exploit.
He urged governments to focus not only on arrests and prosecutions but also on job creation, skills development, and youth empowerment.
The agencies advised young Nigerians to verify online job offers, avoid unofficial recruitment channels, and report suspicious opportunities to authorities.

🚨 Nigeria’s Security Front: Senate Gives Fresh Assurance, Defence Sector Moves to Boost Local Weapons Production
Nigeria’s security challenges took centre stage as Senate President Godswill Akpabio assured citizens that the Federal Government is giving insecurity its highest priority and that the situation would soon improve.
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria at the National Assembly, Akpabio said the recent rescue of abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State showed the government’s commitment to tackling security threats.

The move comes amid growing calls for Nigeria to build a self-reliant defence industry capable of supporting the fight against terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, oil theft, and other security threats.

🏡 Good News for Nasarawa Workers! FMBN Finances 1,590 Houses, Disburses ₦9.5 Billion in Home Renovation Loans
The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has revealed that it has financed 1,590 housing units across Nasarawa State and disbursed over ₦9.5 billion in home renovation loans to 10,601 civil servants.
FMBN Managing Director, Shehu Osidi, disclosed this while receiving Governor Abdullahi Sule at the bank's headquarters in Abuja.
According to Osidi, the partnership with the Nasarawa State Government is helping thousands of workers own or improve their homes while expanding access to affordable housing across the state.
He also revealed that:
✅ ₦94.7 million has been disbursed to 29 civil servants under the state's Owner-Occupier Housing Scheme.
✅ ₦1.02 billion has been refunded to 5,462 retired workers who contributed to the National Housing Fund (NHF).
Osidi added that FMBN is supporting President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Housing Programme and recently recorded a historic increase in NHF collections, rising from ₦103 billion in 2024 to ₦152.4 billion in 2025.
Governor Abdullahi Sule described FMBN as a dependable development partner, saying the collaboration will expand affordable housing projects beyond Lafia to Keffi, Akwanga, Toto and Gudi, especially for low-income earners.
The governor also urged the Federal Government to attract private investors to support the proposed ₦550 billion recapitalisation of FMBN, insisting that housing development should not rely solely on government funding.

🚨 Senate Grills CBN, Moves to Drag NNPCL and Over 40 Government Agencies Before Lawmakers
The Nigerian Senate has turned up the heat on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), demanding answers over monetary policies, public revenue, and financial accountability.
During a tense oversight session, senators questioned CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso over inflation, rising bank charges, recapitalisation of banks, failed electronic transactions, foreign exchange reforms, and the growing cost of the bank's monetary operations.
Lawmakers insisted that the billions raised by banks through recapitalisation must translate into more loans for businesses, farmers, manufacturers and SMEs—not just bigger profits for banks.
Responding, Cardoso defended the CBN's reforms, saying they have helped stabilise the economy, strengthen the naira, boost investor confidence and increase Nigeria's external reserves to $52.73 billion.
He also disclosed that 33 banks have already met the new capital requirements, while discussions are ongoing with the remaining institutions.
Senate Targets NNPCL and 40+ MDAs
In a separate development, the Senate resolved to compel the NNPCL, CBN and more than 40 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to appear before its Committee on Finance over allegations of failing to properly account for public revenues and repeatedly ignoring invitations from lawmakers.
Senator Sani Musa accused several agencies of withholding government funds, failing to remit revenues as required by law, and frustrating the Senate's investigation into public finances.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio warned that no government agency is above the Constitution, stressing that any agency that continues to ignore legislative summons could face sanctions.
The Senate has now adopted a motion to begin formal proceedings to compel the affected agencies to appear as lawmakers intensify efforts to enforce transparency and accountability in the management of public funds.

🔥 "Fuel Subsidy Is Gone?" Expert Says Nigeria Is Secretly Running Its Biggest Subsidy Ever
A fresh controversy has erupted over Nigeria's fuel subsidy policy after the Chairman of the Alliance for Economic Research and Ethics Ltd/GTE, Dele Oye, alleged that the Federal Government's ₦17.5 trillion debt to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) is nothing but fuel subsidy under a different name.
According to Oye, despite the government's 2023 declaration that fuel subsidy had been removed, Nigerians are now paying for what he described as the most expensive subsidy programme in the country's history.
He claimed the massive debt—recorded by NNPC as "Energy Security Expenses," "Under-Recovery," and other receivables—is simply a rebranded subsidy hidden behind accounting terms.
"Three years after the declaration that 'subsidy is gone,' the burden has never been heavier. It has merely been rebranded. And that is the most expensive word game in Nigerian history," Oye said.
The economic expert pointed to NNPC's 2024 financial report, which showed the Federal Government owes the company about ₦17.5 trillion, nearly double the ₦9.36 trillion recorded a year earlier.
He also questioned why such huge "energy security" costs still exist despite the commissioning of the Dangote Refinery, which was expected to reduce fuel imports and strengthen Nigeria's energy independence.
Oye is now calling for a forensic audit of all so-called energy security expenses, insisting Nigerians deserve to know how trillions of naira are being spent in their name.
