Let’s Talk Healthy Eating & Why It Matters
One thing I’ve been learning on my wellness journey is how much food choices affect the way our bodies store fat, especially through insulin levels.
When we constantly eat sugary foods or large portions of refined carbs (like white bread, pastries, or sweetened drinks), our blood sugar spikes. In response, the body releases insulin, a hormone that helps manage blood sugar. But when insulin is released too often or in high amounts, it tells the body to store fat, not burn it.
The good news? Small changes in the way we eat can help a lot. Here’s what has helped me (and might help you too):
✅ Eat more protein — It keeps you full longer and slows down sugar spikes. Think eggs, chicken, Greek yogurt, beans, or tofu.
✅ Watch your portions — Even healthy food can cause weight gain if we eat too much. Start with smaller plates and listen to your body.
✅ Add more fibre — Veggies, fruits with skin, oats, lentils, and whole grains help control blood sugar and keep your digestion happy.
✅ Pair your carbs — Don’t eat plain bread or rice alone. Add protein or healthy fat (like avocado or eggs) to keep things balanced.
✅ Cut back on sugar and processed snacks — They might feel good in the moment, but they lead to energy crashes, cravings, and fat storage later.
This isn’t about perfection — just more informed choices. I’m sharing this as someone on a journey, not as a professional. Every small step adds up. 💚
