Earlier today, the leadership of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), Bayelsa State Branch ably led by Sct Eunice Ayamaere Lelei, paid a congratulatory courtesy visit to the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Stow Yerinbuluemi Jones.

During the visit, the association’s leadership used the opportunity to present key professional concerns affecting Medical Laboratory Scientists in the state.

The delegation appealed for the consequential upward adjustment of all existing Medical Laboratory Scientists who were already above the new entry point cadre, following the release and implementation of the circular domesticating the entry point of Medical Laboratory Scientists at Salary Grade Level 10 (CONHESS 9).

The leadership also reminded the Permanent Secretary of their earlier appeal submitted on 1st July 2025 to the Ministry regarding the committee’s report on salary shortfalls (Call duty removed), and requested the approval and implementation of the committee’s recommendations to address the disparities.

In response, Dr. Stow Yerinbuluemi Jones stated that processes are already in motion involving the leadership of the NUAHP, relevant trade unions, the Head of Service, and the Ministry of Health to quickly resolve the issues surrounding the call allowance that was removed from some staff of the Ministry since last year 2025. He further assured the association of his commitment to the welfare of Medical Laboratory Scientists and his continuous support for the profession.

The visit provided an avenue for constructive engagement and reaffirmed the commitment of the association to continue working collaboratively with the Ministry of Health to strengthen the welfare and professional development of Medical Laboratory Scientists in Bayelsa State.
