Parents, kids, schools and Valentine dressing.
I begin with the Name of Allaah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
“And remind for verily, the reminding benefits the believers.” Qur’aan 51:55
وعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: مِنْ حُسْنِ إِسْلَامِ الْمَرْءِ تَرْكُهُ مَا لَا يَعْنِيهِ. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُ
The Messenger of Allah said, "It is from the excellence of (a believer's) Islam that he should shun that which is of no concern to him"
Undoubtedly, valentine is of no concern to the believers. Hence, in order to protect and safeguard our Iman and to be from amongst the believers described (that reminder of the Qur’an benefits them) in the verse referenced above, we should not partake in Valentine celebration.
And for parents, please don’t allow yourselves to be supporters of unIslamic celebrations like Valentine by succumbing to the dictates of the schools you take your children to by dressing your innocent kids in Reds in honor of Valentine.
