Life at sea can be rewarding, but it can also be demanding.
Long periods away from home, busy schedules, unfamiliar surroundings and the limited personal space that comes with life onboard can all affect a seafarer's wellbeing.
Especially when someone is new to the crew, a simple question can make a difference:
โHow are you doing?โ
On World Su***de Prevention Day, the message is to start the conversation.
Creating a safe and supportive environment onboard does not always start with a programme or procedure. Sometimes, it starts with noticing a colleague, checking in and taking the time to listen.
Because safety onboard is not only about procedures and equipment. It is also about looking out for each other.
