Placemaking usually starts from what a place is already telling you - so what do you do somewhere that hasnât said much yet? You listen to what is there. The river. The light. The few people passing through. Then you make something small and see what happens.
With (ft. Stadwerk) and we built a tactical intervention at the Veilingweg: a starting point with a bike-repair station, social seating, a stretch spot, a lookout. Each one a small hypothesis about what this edge could be. Throughout 2026 weâll keep testing, keep listening, keep asking. Not a finished design. A way of finding out.
I am pretty excited about this âleft-overâ space, where often valuable qualities sit: urban next to natural, noise next to quiet, density next to openness. We tried to capture this in a communicative concept: âBuitenâ (Outside). Buiten starts here! Pictures by the great
