The light does not come from a bulb. It comes from a ring of pleated white fabric, wrapped around an open centre.

That is IRIS, by Fabrice Berrux for 10 Heures 10: a textile ribbon diffusing an integrated LED at 2700K into what Berrux calls an indoor sun, soft and circular rather than a single point of glare. Floor totems on marble, wall lights, pendants, the same halo held in different forms.

A Tokyo architect set out to make light that behaves like soap bubbles, or planets that never quite land.

That is Focus, by Yuji Okitsu for DCWéditions: an aluminium frame holding acrylic discs, each lit only at the rim by an integrated LED halo at 2700K. No shade, no glare, just the warm edge of each disc. Three, four or five discs, in white and black.

The best fix is the one nobody notices.

J. Adams & Co have rebuilt the canopy on every drop rod pendant. A knuckle joint, built in as standard, now allows up to forty degrees of rotation, so the same pendant hangs true whether the ceiling is flat or pitched. No hook and loop workaround needed anymore.

The revision runs across the full catalogue, Apex to Flume to Lanterns, on stock already in production.

Printed digitally in Sassuolo, the Emilian district that has spent a century turning image onto surface into a precise craft.

A single sphere lets this lamp move in any direction, like a planet finding its orbit.

Designed by Hamburg-based Simon Schmitz for DCW éditions, AARO redirects light through one spherical joint rather than a hinge or track. Black anodized aluminium and steel, integrated LED at 2700K, dimmable.

That is the whole of Flume: a slimline, vertical form that nods to the Art Deco era, made to order by hand at J. Adams & Co's Birmingham factory. The pendants and wall lights take clear or frosted reeded glass; the groupings can be specified in machined alabaster, each shade carrying its own veining. Designed by Will Earl. 2700K, dimmable, IP44 where a bathroom needs it.

For those of you who specify: does the dispersed model actually serve the work better, or do you miss the efficiency of everything under one roof?

The great design fair gathered everything under one roof, and for most of a century that was enough. The centre of gravity has moved since: from the hall to the showroom, from the crowd to the conversation.

Stockholm cancelled 2026 and its design community answered with two hundred events of its own. Copenhagen's 3 Days of Design, never a fairground to begin with, is now the barometer of the trade. We were there this year, on foot between showrooms, and the difference is structural, not cosmetic.

Not an ending. A homecoming for a business built on knowing people and knowing product.

Kiln-forming is one of the few ways to work glass that still refuses to standardise.
