🎨 Through a Conservator’s Eyes – A Different Perspective on Art 🎨
While most museum visitors enjoy the beauty, colors, and emotions of a painting, a conservator sees much more. We look beyond the surface, examining cracks, varnish, pigments, and how the materials are aging. Every brushstroke tells us a story not only of the artist’s intent but also of the painting’s journey through time.
🔍 What We Notice:
Changes in color due to aging or yellowed varnish
Cracks or lifting paint that may indicate structural issues
How environmental factors, like light and humidity, have affected the artwork
Previous restoration work, and whether it needs updating
For a conservator, each painting is a puzzle, and our job is to make sure the art stays in its best condition for future generations to enjoy.
