We applied Penergetic to our fodder beet, kale and swede crops this season as part of a deer repellent trial. Historically, deer have caused noticeable damage to these crops, so we were keen to see whether the product would make a difference.
This year the crops have remained very healthy, with no major deer impact evident throughout the growing season.
We only saw a small number of deer around the crop edges. Those deer were dealt with, and since then we have had very little deer activity observed in or around the crop areas. Importantly, we have not seen the level of browsing and crop loss that we would normally expect.
The result is a strong, healthy crop with excellent feed available.
We expect to have an excess of feed this year and considerably less supplementary feeding out to do as a result.
Based on our experience, we have been very pleased with the outcome and the protection provided to our fodder beet, kale and swede crops. This is especially pleasing given our proximity to The Catlins Forest Park.
