A common mistake when building an online course is creating modules that are related, but don’t actually build on each other.
Here’s a simple test: Could someone skip straight to Module 4 and still follow along?
If the answer is yes, your modules may just be sitting next to each other rather than taking the learner through a clear progression.
Each module should give the learner something they need for what comes next.
So, for every module, ask: “What does the learner get here that they’ll need in the next module?”
If you can’t answer that clearly, it may be worth reworking the module.
A good course isn’t just a collection of topics. Everything should flow together and take the learner from where they are to where they want to be.
