Update from the New Zealand Rocketry Association;
Hi all,
We'll be holding an extended, 3 day members launch on March 6 - 8th at the Orini site.
- Friday March 6th: setup, plus flying from midday to sunset.
- Saturday March 7th: flying from 09:00 to sunset.
- Sunday March 8th: flying from 09:00 to 15:00, followed by pack-up.
Camping on site is permitted on Friday and Saturday night. Portaloos will also be available on site for your use. We plan to have a dinner on Saturday night, but it will be b.y.o. - we'll provide the bbq's, but you'll need to bring your own food, cutlery etc.
Our site is a working farm, please keep this in mind and respect it. Bring appropriate footwear, clothing, and shade. No pets are allowed on site at any point during the event, even after flying has finished. No exceptions.
Please note, this year flights will be limited to our standard altitude ceiling of 2.9km. A new process for supporting high altitude flights is currently under review, but unfortunately will not be in place in time for this year's event. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause. We hope to have this in place by mid-2026 and will advise when it is available.
We ask that you respond to this email directly to advise your attendance and planned flight(s).
While a members launch, we do allow family and limited guests – but request that you advise in advance so we can ensure we aren’t over-loading our facilities.We reserve the right to turn away any groups of unplanned guests.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
We hope to see you all there!
Regards,
NZRA Admin.
