Visit from Human Rights Commission.
It was a pleasure to host Professor Gail Pacheco, Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner from the Human Rights Commission, and learn more about the important work being carried out across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Dr Pacheco was appointed as Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner in 2024 and brings extensive experience in economics, research, workforce participation, pay equity, and social policy. She is also a Professor of Economics and Director of the NZ Policy Research Institute at AUT.
It was valuable to hear more about the role of the Human Rights Commission and its work to promote and protect human rights, address discrimination, support equal employment opportunities, advance disability rights, encourage positive race relations, and help build fair and inclusive communities.
We also appreciated learning more about some of the current issues and priorities being discussed nationally, including equal employment opportunities, pay equity, workplace fairness, reducing barriers to participation, and ensuring all New Zealanders are treated with dignity and respect.
As an organisation that works closely with people, businesses, entrepreneurs, and communities, it is always helpful to better understand the support, advocacy, and resources available through the Human Rights Commission.
Fa’afetai tele lava to Prof Gail Pacheco for taking the time to visit and share her insights. We appreciate the opportunity to connect, learn more about the Commission’s work, and explore how we can continue supporting fair and inclusive outcomes within our communities.
